Where the hell is Darwin when we need him? I know we need janitors, and McDonalds cooks....but really.

We are in a state of decline that I don't think has existed since the Dark Ages.

Kids don't care about their education, and are content with skipping class to talk in the halls, pick up a coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

Takeout has become a way of life. No longer is it the norm to get in your damn car and (Oh god...) drive 5 minutes to pick up the frigging pizza.

Is there no end? What is it going to take before some change is brought upon us?

Why are these idiots still allowed to breathe? What has become of our once proud nation?

They need to die. We should ship them all to one of those deserted islands and start testing NBC weapons there. Problem solved...

Um, I feel somewhat guilty. I don't go out to pick up my pizza. I don't even call to order it.

Yes, I order my pizza online from Papa Johns Online

I see you took a lot of ideas from our PM convo so I'm going to post my PM with a little more "Moron-Friendly" politically corect attitude and some revisions.

Our society accepts everyone. The lazy are not forced to do things as opposed to the "old days" - like work, the manual labor our grandfathers used to do (coal mining, construction, etc). Jobs are sit your ass in front of the computer and play games when the boss isn't around, and then go home and complain about how tough your day was. Political corectness (the result of our society treating everyone equal) has resulted in everything from the parent's right to smack a child questioned to the denial of proper schooling (school vouchers) for kids.
The modern world, with its television, cars, mass transit, and even pizza deliveries, all contribute to laziness. This laziness becomes so inherent that what results is that someone is too lazy to want to learn something or read something AND put the effort into comprehending it.

Since these people in our society are allowed to interact freely, the masses are becoming lazier and dumber as a whole.

Laziness doesn't always mean that people no longer thirst for knowledge, as laziness can be limited to the physical aspect of a person, but in today's society, people are told what to think and what to believe (what better example than the Bush propaganda?). If you're told what to think and believe, have food delivered to you, don't need to walk more than 20 consecutive feet to go somewhere, and don't even need to make an effort to get it up (Viagra), then chances are that you can't think for yourself and either believe what you're told, or make decisions based on the very little you read/comprehend.

The core of the problem lies in the laziness, and perhaps the technology which is furthering it. Capitalism will not exist much longer as machines will be able to do everything humans used to do, from building cars to conducting buisnisses - I'd rather have Big Blue run my company than half of the inept CEOs in charge today.

Our society is headed towards the point where people are hooked up to a machine that feeds them, connects their brain directly to the internet, and processes their wastes for them. And a lot of people like this thought.

Idiots aren't taking over, they already have.

Life will keep going this way for a long time, if not forever. Every generation will have its brains, along with its manual labor. There is not really not a lot we can do about it.

However, it should be noted that there still are athletes and scientists popping out all around us. I would like to think there still is some purity to this world, and just spend some time observing it. (AKA Getting my ass off the damn internet. )

Jarukoth, with previous generations, things were instilled in them. Things such as work ethic, discipline, honesty, and common sense.

Now we just have kids that jack around, with parents that could give two shits about how they're doing in school.

I'm starting to not care that my parents are on my ass about my grades now, because they're actually helping me, not hurting.

"Our society is headed towards the point where people are hooked up to a machine that feeds them, connects their brain directly to the internet, and processes their wastes for them. And a lot of people like this thought."

Aye, I couldn't agree more. And for some reason, it saddens me that I don't mind going this way myself. I've been so dependent on computers over the past couple of years it's crazy. I have absolutely NO need to go outside at all if needs be. The only reason I do is to make income. (Which obviously can be made over the internet from home.)

I can pay my phone bill, my cable/internet bill, my electric bill, etc.. all online. No need to go to the store to get envelopes, stamps, and all that good stuff. I can do it all from this chair.

And like I said before, I don't need to leave my house to eat. I really can't remember the last time I went out to get groceries. The only food I eat is stuff I order from restraunts to be delivered here.

Any material possessions I want can easily be purchased off the internet. I'm talking about ANYTHING. I get all my gaming supplies from Gamestop (or other merchants such as them) and anything else can be gotten off of ebay. Most things you can get using the Buy It Now feature and it will still probably cost cheaper than getting it at the store so why bother leaving the house for it?

I haven't written a letter using a pencil and paper in literally years. Everyone I write to has an e-mail address. And I never have to leave this chair for that either.

You know, for the last part of my life, I've noticed myself becoming extremely lazy and I could never figure out why. I thought it was just nature taking it's course. But this thread has made me realize why exactly I've become this way. I'm so dependent on this little machine in front of me. If I didn't have it anymore, I would be lost.

I wouldn't know where to send a check to pay my bills because I opted not to recieve statements in the mail anymore. I'd have to learn how to integrate myself into society once again. A notion I'm not so keen on. Living as a recluse has become a big and seemingly unbreakable lifestyle for me.

Computers and the internet have done most of my thinking for me. It's not that I mind really, it's just that I'm so used to it now that I would probably crumble without it. Somewhat like a young child being seperated from his parents into a big city.

This is the stupidest thing ever, look at this:

You have just entered room "YoshiDude Cult."
What follows is me being tricked into proving I'm a moron by believing what they say no matter how ridiculous it is.

They gave me the idea. Well, what do you guys think? I belive it to be crazy and idiotic myself. They actually think they have a chance at doing something, or maybe they're just messing around, I dunno.

Laziness is relative.

I don't have to go out and hunt my own food. Am I lazy? Nah. Coddled? Whatever.

People have bitched about this for centuries. Centuries from now, they'll still bitch about it. Unless there's some actual problem that this is creating, what's the point?

It's funny you say that because you're being duped. It should have been obvious that they were just messing with you. I can't believe you actually fell for that.
