I was doing my Geography homework when i came accross something that i had never heard of before. The Teenybopper ranks. I have no idea as to what this is.

The basic subject of the text its in is the groups that teenages get classed into. So i'm asuming its one of the groups. I was just wondering what carectoristics are steriotyped to this group.

And in saying this does anyone know what a Manga kid is.

Teenybopper ranks!?! Um... I certainly have never heard anyone classified to be that...

And my guess on the latter is that either it's a kid who is obsessed with Manga or a kid who is in a Manga show.

A Teenybopper is a crappy little teenager that has his or her fashion sense, music taste and sense of style dictated by popular culture.

The best example would be Busted fans in the UK. Busted are a "punk" band that are hyped up by popular culture and the media to be the badly behaved and rebelious. *cough* This is a steaming load of bullcrap.
Busted are the most generic and tame band you can ever imagine, and their reputation is only apparent in the media. They are in essence a product of the media, and thousands of kids adore them thinking they're the most rebelious band in the universe.

A good analogy would be to compare teenyboppers to sheep.

There are sub-classifications for every social stereotype... Not just teenyboppers.

I actually like Busted, as they play their own insturments and their songs are very ironic

I thought the term "teeny bopper" died out in the 80's. Guess I was wrong.

Nah, the "Teeny Bopper" still lives on. I heard it a few times. When I was younger and went to a Christina Aguilera concert my cousin said there would probably be a bunch of Teeny Boppers there. Britney Spears has a bunch of Teen Bopper fans.

Everyone is a sheep of somesort.

The god damned anti-conformist punks are conformists.

Or, in the words of some characters created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone:

"Oh yeah, well, I'm so counter-culture, I'm GOING to do it."
"I think we jsut got goth-served."

You can escape trends, in a way. Don't give any of them any weight. Do whatever you want, regardless of what it means. You're a grown-ass man who thinks Mandy Moore's cover album probably isn't bad? Go ahead and say so. Just be yourself, and that's the best you can be.

Porn, tinzeee

drjayphd: Oh, I'll give you a mark for mentioning Good Charlotte, but they're not as fake as Busted are

Elmo: Busted do play their own instruments, but when you hear statements such as:
"Busted are the bad pups of punk", you really, really want to smack the media with a great big baka hammer

Somewhat good point there. But I can honestly say that I follow trends without thinking on it. The clothes shops somewhat forces one to follow trends.

However the most annoying thing is when people critize something becuse it's an trend/fad.

The thing is, Busted aren't TRYING to be fake, they're not "bigging themselves up* in that way (Step forward Blazing Squad") I think the lads deserve kodos for having a sense of humour, they're not to be blamed for their fans. Avril Lavigne on the other hand.....

Eh, Teeny Bopper's a term I still use, although I think that the media and such are calling it "Tween" now as well....

As for Teeny Bopper ranks, this is pretty much how I see things like people calling themselves "Goths" or "Punks" or "Skaters" or whatever. As a product of adolescence. Most people grow out of labelling themselves this way too, so I guess it fits in the Teeny Bopper Ranks thing by age too

I understand that there will always be trends, after all trends are basically memes, I just don't understand why people have to follow these trends to the letter or fear not being "cool" or "accepted". Who fricken cares if your pants aren't "Skater" enough or whatever....
