I feel that the war was justified even though we didn't find the weapons of mass destruction yet. Ibelieve that Saddam hussein would have posed an even greater evil in the future.

I would like to take the time to officially announce my retirement from this thread and all future threads about this subject. I feel as if I've debated this to death and I can do it no more. It's just so tired and played out this point.

I mean, what more can really be said that hasn't already been said at this board? A lot of people say it was justified and a lot more say it wasn't. Either way, it happened.

If we do in fact get a new president in the states, it'll be interesting to see how he goes about the rest of this project.

Anyway, have fun you guys. I'm out.

Remember how when you were young, you'd ask your parents "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" in a long car ride?

Well, that's what the war feels like. "Is it over yet? Is it over yet?"

Technically, the war itself between Saddam/America is over. Now it's just a matter of trying to settle the country down... And that was a problem no matter what happened.

Not so much this board, but the old one before it got deleted. Many a political threads there where this topic was the cornerstone. Especially when the war was going on.

How do I feel about it? I feel it is economically motivated, and in fact almost all of our wars have been that way. (Perhaps excluding WW2 and the revolutionary war)

I agree that we needed to take sadam out of power, but it was the americans who wanted to and now australia is involved and we now have a threat of something being blown up I reckon that we should just bomb the hole place up and get on with life...

I still believe saddam was never going have done anything ever again and this war in Iraq was a personal vendetta of Jr. Bush.... the afghan initiative was understandable... but the reasons for why we are in Iraq in the first place are not good enough for me.

anyways, the sooner we get out (or stop hearing about Iraq) the better things will be for the time being...

If it doesn't turn into a quagmire, it was a good investment.

I don't believe sadam had any weapons of mass-destruction, cause all they have found is empty missels and what-not... and like that country could aford anything.

There were a suggestion about a political forum, but all I heard "it won't work" or "we see".

During the war, I practically ignored CNN. I heard so many hero/Goodes and things that was just stupid. Like the freedom fries things. ~_~

But if the war was for the good or bad? Well I stay neutral as much i can on this topic. At least i'm thankful that Sweden isn't allied in NATO...

HeHe... like neutral is going to do anything. Your either with them or not. Either way binlarden, sadam, terrorites blah blah blah will want their revenge on the world. Doesn't matter if you were with bush or not.

Thats not the way to go about it, a lot of people in that country are innocent and dont deserve to die just because of their leader. Thats like if John Howard (Australian prime minister) were to want to take control of the world and other countries sayin bomb the whole of Australia. It's just not the right way to go about it.

It's a hypothetical statement, meant to make you realise the point I was making. Of course John Howard wouldn't, but what about the next Prime minister?
