Um... yeah. A, B and Y all have unique functions in SMW. X can be used as an extra button for some functions but in reality you only need 3 buttons to play.

Most SNES games don't use L+R that much, or they have the same effect as another button... They've ported Link to the Past, SMW, SMW2, and a few others pretty flawlessly... so I think you can make due with the GBA

the other way to do it requires hacking. e.g supermetroid. for dash change button to pressing the direction twice in quick sucession. ive done it ity isnt tooo hard.
