Well Im going to be doing an essay or whatever on Cats and dogs where you have to compare/contrast both the animals. I just want to hear your guys' opions on which one you prefer over the other or if you like both, explain why either way.

I'm a cat person but I also have a dog. I don't go out and play with him much because he's stinky and needs a bath. All my animals give me a good laugh when I need it. When I feel bad my cats notice and comfort me..my dog..well he just acts happy all the time and just makes me smile . My dog is a rotwieler and it's like I've always had a Rotweiler..I want a puppy though but my dog is like a big, over-grown puppy. It's hard for me to choose one but I'd have to say cats but dogs are a close second . I spend more time with my cats since they're in the house but I did enjoy playing soccer with my last rotweiler in the back yard .

I´m a cat person. I´ve always liked cats because of their cute meowing and they don´t get that big either.

They´re also easy to take care of.

We have a dog in our family, though.

That's a difficult decision to make First off, cats, to my experience, are definitely easier to take care of, although the two we have at home have recently started laying on either my Mom's bed or my top bunk for a good portion of the day, and sometimes have either coughed up a hairball, or pooped on the blankets, thereby making both of us resent ever letting them into our rooms However, a dog could very well do the same thing, although not on a bed

When it comes to taking care of them, cats seem to be fairly easy to care for. Simply feed them and clean their litter boxes on a regular basis, and take them to a veterinarian when necessary. If they go outside regularly, then the only other thing I can think of you needing to do is give them a bath when need be.

As for a dog, basically the same plan applies, except without having to clean a litter box, and needing to take it on a walk regularly.

I'd choose cats though. Aside from what's listed above, dogs are noisy, mostly when barking, while the most noise a cat can make is a loud hiss when something happens to it I still like dogs, but not so much that I'd choose a dog over a cat right now

I've had one of each in my life. I love them both, but I think I enjoyed having my cat more. My dog barks too much, opens the door to my room in the middle of the night, and is messy in about every way. My cat was sweet, pretty, simple, and liked sitting with me anytime, unlike my dog. So I'm gonna have to go with cats. I want one again, my cat died a few years ago.

Cats pwn j00. They're adorable warm purry bundles who exhibit the perfect balance of attentiveness and independence. Chester and Cookie can play together and entertain themselves, and they aren't bored when we're away from the house, but they also love to talk to us, snuggle, look up with expectant little faces when they want a treat, and just be nearby. Their basic care is very simple and doesn't require much time or effort. Contrary to popular belief, cats can be trained to stay off counters and use scratching posts. After three years of living with kitties, our curtains are still virtually pristine. Sure, there is the occasional hairball horkage, but that isn't much of an inconvenience. Pick up hairball, soak the spot with Nature's Miracle, wait a while, voila. I also don't mind the shedding. It isn't excessive (our kitties are shorthaired and eat top of the line premium food, which helps quite a bit), and my LONG hairs are much more noticeable, believe me.

Other people's well-behaved dogs are nifty, but I wouldn't want to deal with the time and effort involved in properly caring for and training one of my own. If I were a dog person, I would enjoy the requisite walking, interactive play, and behavior reinforcement. However, it seems to me to be a lot of boring work. Not only that, we live in an urban area and our yard is unfenced, so I would have to get up and go outside with the dog every time it had to go to the bathroom. I'll take 5 minutes of scooping litter every other day, thanks.

That pretty much sums up why I like cats. I couldn´t have put it better.

I want a cat like that someday.

I like cats because they know how to clean themselves up and tend to be smarter. They don't lick you with something they've been wiping their ass with, have softer fur, and cuddle up to you. Don't get me wrong, I like dogs too.

Cats FTW Cats take care of themselves, and are free to go where they like. True, sometimes they like to go too close to a main road for their own good, but they soon learn if they don't get flattened.

I was at home for the first time in four weeks yesterday, and my cat came to see me when I was going to bed. She stayed on the end of my bed, fast asleep until morning

Cats show true affection to those they are closest to. They make wonderful companions, and wise friends

Would say cats if I wasn't deathly allergic to them.

A big dog does the trick in a pinch, though. Small dogs are spastic.

Not too surprsied about people voting cats, since apparently it's a popular pet amongst geeks and nerds.

I never owned a cat, I did grow up with dogs. So i'm very fond of dogs, thought I would personally prefer to get a cat if I ever bought a pet in a few years.

But eh, I kinda like both. Really.

Cats, then can take care of themself better than dogs. My cats don't even meow at all, not even if they are hungry. I don't mind cleaning the litter every now and then as long as they don't poop in my room.

Man, I need to post a picture of my cats one of these days.

Cats clean their butt with their tongue . Then they're so nice after they're done cleaning themselves they go and lick your hand .

I like how cats need no effort to be taken care of, really.
My dog is still equally as sexy.

Cats rule! Seeing as we own eight. All mine, except one, are very weird in their own ways. We also own a dog and two ferrets. But we're animal lovers so it's hard to tell what animal is best between a cat and a dog.

Cats, definitely. I have both, and I am not a dog person. I like dogs, but wouldn't chose to live with one.

I see how people can dislike cats. I have both an outdoor and indoor cat, and I don't care for the outdoor one. Too dirty, and just doesn't care about me. Only food.
My indoor cat, Rex, is a total opposite. He's a caring companion, and I love him so much. My mom has said it's because he's a manx cat, but.. I don't know how much truth is in that.

You will. Cats raised in loving homes will trust their people and bond with them. For maximum kitty contentment, it is also important to understand cats' instincts and provide them with an environment that allows them to safely and nondestructively express their natural behavior. There are many perches, scratching surfaces, and hidey holes around the house for Chester and Cookie, and they also get lots of floor space to run around in. (Where I live, it isn't safe to allow them to freely roam outside, but they get tons of exercise indoors, and we're training them to wear a leash and harness so we can take them out into the yard.) They have toys to hunt, too.

When they were very small, they really didn't have much in the way of personality, but as they grew, they would seek us out more and more. And now Chester is known as Mr. Whiny because he loves to run at our ankles and complain because we aren't paying attention to him Right. Now.

I think any cat can be like that if you raise it correctly.

"My auntie's little one, Cocoa, likes to nibble on my fingers when my arm hangs down when I sleep..it is sooooooo adorable "

How cute.
