I really need help with this blocktool thing...i dont kno how to add a block or anything
All i kno is the basics of hacking
I've followed all the steps from the tutorial and the posts too...
I dont kno what to do...i need help

1. Graphics editing is a bit tricky. You may want to make some ExGFX (Extra Graphics), which you can also use for your custom blocks, read the stickies to learn more.

2. The map16 number is the Hex number of the block you want to put the Blocktool block into. Hover your cursor over a block in a blank page in the map16 editor (preferably the second blankpage, the first blank is tile-set specific) Down at the bottom should say something like Address: 0x***, where *** is a hexademic number. That's what you're looking for. Put that in calculator as a Hex number and convert it to decimal. That's the number you put in blocktool.

3. To put the block in the game, first open your ROM in blocktool (This is really easy to forget). Then find a block you want (Most follow the above rules, but some have extra directions), put in the Map16 number you found earlier, and click ADD. The block is now assigned to the Map16 block you selected. Click the save button. You're done.

1.Open LM, Calculator, and Block tool.
2. Go to the map16 editor and find a block, and get it's Map16 number.
3. Convert it to decimal.
4. Go to BT and open your hack.
5. Find a block you want.
6. Follow the instuctions in blocktool for the block.
7. When you insert it, add the decimal version of the Map16 number.
8. Your block shoukd appear on the spreadsheet in BT.
9. Save.
10. Go back to LM and find your block on the Map16 page.
11. Edit it's graphics (for example, put F8 for all tiles to make your block invisible(or anything else will work too)).
12. Press F9 to insert your block's Graphics to the ROM.
13. Go to direct map16 access in the add objects window, and find your block. Put it in your level.
14. There is no step 14.

do you have a patch with the same name and same folder than your roms? If yes, rename It, cause emulator auto-patch rom

the only thing that i dont understand is that the block wont show up on the 16x16 tile map editor

the address that im using is "0x1800" on page 0x3

the block don't suppose to show since he don't have graphics, blktool don't give graphic and act like setting, I just make the block call a subroutine(exemple: make mario become luigi)the thread Tatrion has linked you have all these info about setting their graphics

Same as before, except press the Yellow Mushroom on the status bar, and you'll have to set up the GFX Bypass before using the graphics.

NOTE: the Tiles' Graphics will not transfer from one tileset to another. For example, if you have a Ghost house open when you make the Graphics, you won't see it in a Forest Tileset later. you have to do it over for the forest.


See, Its talking about graphics and the block in my last post already exist in blktool

I really am sorry for the bump (if it is a heavy bump), I don't want to open a new thread for an idiot blocktool question. May I post my blocktool problem here???

I used, for an example, the ? block with lakitu cloud. Where can I change the graphic which appears in the item box when I get the lakitu cloud?

Right now, there isn't a fix for those item box glitches. and, that wasn't really a bump. if you look in the faq, it says a bump is 2 weeks or more. that was 2 or 3 days.
