I was going to make a thread concerning this after I saw how bad it's gotten. It's already considered a catastrophic category 5 hurricane =o

Yeah, I heard a little about this on the radio on the drive in to work. Not much, other than that it's now been classified as Category 5, and that a state of Emergency had been declared... the radio seemed short on any other details though.

Scary stuff...

Like the one in New Orleans wasn´t enough.

It will do a lot of damage and cause deaths but I hope it won´t be too many.

From what I've been reading, it seems it's more far powerful than Katrina.

Currently listening to : Queen - Another One Bites The Dust.

Joking aside, wow. This has been a pretty sick year, so far as tropical weather goes. We're already up to R, and two of the hurricanes have been immensely powerful.

Am I the only one expecting gas prices to go up for no good reason, again?

I have a cousins in Texas. I hope they're all right... I remember just a little while ago when they predicted it would only be a Category 2.

Hopefully, this one won't be as devastating as Katrina.

In all honesty, they have a few days to get the hell out of there. If they don't, its either their own damn fault, or they really can't get out and I hope that they can find a way. Hell, if I didn't have a way to evac and a bad ass hurricane is coming, I would be at a street corner, with a sign, asking for help, or going to people who live near me to take me with them.

Serisouly, they should take a page out of our book here. Even before Rita was a hurricane, they closed schools in three counties in a day in advanced, had stores and malls close at 5pm the day before so people could get ready, and some places were closed the day it was supposed to hit, b/c they were worried that it might take a north jog.

We learned out lession from Andrew, which hit as a cat 5 back in '92. I was almost at the point of begging my parents to leave, even before it blew up into this massive storm.

Shit happens, and hopefully people will learn from this shit.

These storms remind me of those from the early 1900's. If one can't learn from history (sure, its another time and all that jazz) then they'll just have to learn from personal experience.

And one thing that bothers me (sorry for this rant) but people are saying that they lost their photos and personal memeories in storms (in general, not just Katrina) but I have to think, why did you take it with you!! Screw the TV and all the matrial things, take photos and keep sakes with you.

At the start of every hurricane season since one or two years ago, I have packed a duffle bag with dry goods and my keep sakes (photos, yearbooks, memory books) because that's the stuff t5hat I don't want to lose. Sure, there is a small chance that this area will flood, but take no chances when fate draws you a hand that's a little over the top.

I was looking at the all the storms' tracks for this year, and they either look like their going to hit the states and then veer the other way, or they end up in the gulf. Its just one of those seasons, and if I saw something that's east of florida and not moving away, I would start getting my shit togeter.

Oh, and with Rita, first time ever, while at the gas station, they ran out of regular gas. Figures, when they sell it at $2.71. At least they had the 2nd upgarde from that.

Okay, okay, I think I'm done. Sorry about that.

Yes, people need to realize there's a thing called insurance.

Pretty scary to have a second one hitting now... It's like the apocolypse or something.

Compare this year with last year. Florida had 4 hurricanes last summer.

"It's like the apocolypse or something."

If SOMETHING was like the Apocalypse, it was the 4 hurricanes that hit florida last year.

Okay, maybe these hurricanes are worse.

My sister is suppose to come from San Antonio because of the hurricane. She also said that it's almost impossible to find water at any store because most of them are sold out.

Plus, I've seen footage of people on highways and its jammed backed...but why won't they open the other side of the highway and have all traffic going in the same direction? That's what we do here...then we won't have 12 hour traffic delays.

Yea, four hit last year, that was fun.

Also, all the managers for Gamestop are in Texas right now for the week (I'm in charge at my store right now) so hopefully they can make it back here without delay, I want my day off already.

I thought about the fact that people were stupid not to get the hell out of New Orleans when I heard about it, but I thought about it for a while. Its nearly impossible to get out of a city when everyone else is trying to. The traffic is awful. On top of that, some people wouldn't be able to afford to get out of town. Its crazy.

Anyways, Hurricane Rita definetly won't do as much damage. The only reason why New Orleans was affected was that it was below water level or something and the whole city flooded. It will ruin houses, but it'll be way easier to rebuild.
