Rydain: The gas prices in sweden are at least $1.5 per LITER so I don´t think you should complain.

And my original complaint was about the person behind me driving like an asshead, not "ZOMG gas is like a million bazillion dollars we're all gonna DIE!!!11!!" Furthermore, you seem to have missed this pertinent phrase:

Thirty-odd years ago, the national speed limit was dropped to 55 miles per hour because the country's gas supply was critically low and that is the most gas-efficient highway speed at which to drive. We may be on the verge of a similar crisis

Meaning: "ZOMG the gas supply might become critically low! We did just lose a major drilling area and a bunch of refineries, so it is a valid concern! I'm going to cut back on gas consumption to be prudent!" So I was trying to conserve gas for that reason, too.

If you want to discuss gas prices, there's a thread in General about it. Can we return to talking about our socks? I only have a few pairs, but that's OK because I wear sandals as much of the year as possible. When you only wear socks 1 1/2 hours at a time for going to the gym, they don't tend to get gross right away, so you don't run out very quickly. I do need to wear them in the colder months, though. Perhaps I should buy more. Socks good.

I'd like to say that the price of gas right now bothers me the most, but I don't yet have a driver's licence, so it's not affecting me as much as it could be

As for other things, the first would be my sister Mainly, the fact that she steals so much. The most recent incident happened last week. Last time I went out grocery shopping, I bought a bag of fuzzy peach candies, as this Saturday, we're going to Wingham for an early Thanksgiving celebration / family reunion, and I wanted something to eat on the way. Last Thursday or Friday, I went to check if they were still where I'd hidden them, only to find that they'd disappeared. They were in the first large drawer in my dresser, tucked at the back. I know my parents wouldn't take them, so that only left three other people. My brother, sister, and her friend, Kristina. My brother wouldn't have taken them, as he's got braces right now, and he can't eat sticky / chewy candy. Kristina wouldn't have, as she doesn't go in my room at all. That leaves my sister. She's stolen many things in the past, some not very important, while others were very valuable (I won't go into detail). She's also gone into my room many times, and taken things from it. It's come to the point where I'm reluctant to go to a friend's house for the night, as something might get taken from my room. The fuzzy peaches aren't that important though, as I've still got $10 left outside of the bank.

I do have a closet with a lock on it, that I could store valuable things in, but unfortunately, the key has been taken by someone. I'm sure you can guess who I can still get into it, but I'm not storing things in it when she can freely access it as she pleases.

Aside from that, she also acts extremely stuck up. Nearly every thing someone says to her that's not meant to be kind, gets answered with "I'm over it" or "Get over it". I've taken to telling her "If you're over it, then why did you say anything?" lately. After that, if my brother or I get tired of her saying those sorts of things, and run after her, she immediately runs to either one of our parents for protection. She's also known to dish out pretty much what we do to her, and our requests to either our Mom or Dad to get her to stop get ignored.

I'm doing my best to ignore her as of late, but when it comes to thievery, I won't just turn away.

The only other thing that comes to mind right now still has to do with my sister and her friend. I don't know why, but they have it in their heads that they have to take upwards of 3 or 4 showers a day. It's highly irritating to go upstairs needing to use the toilet, or needing to have a shower, only to find that someone's already in the bathroom. The good thing is that the switches for the lights and fan are on the outside of the bathroom though. My Dad recently redid the bathroom, as it was starting to look, well, ugly is the best word in this situation. The lightswitch used to be inside the bathroom, as would be expected. Now, as previously stated, it's on the wall in the hallway, which makes for great fun if whoever's in the bathroom is getting on your last nerve

I realize those problems are pretty insignificant compared to what could be happening, but they're simply two of the things that I've found annoying recently

Edit: Added one thing I forgot before clicking the "Post" button.

I've never had the misfortune of driving in Jersey, but I've been driven around in there and I was damned glad that I wasn't behind the wheel. I'm a decent driver, but high-stress traffic like that drives me batshit. I don't even like traveling on the DC beltway as a passenger. I'm afraid that some moron doing 80 in their Hummer while turning around to yell at the kids in the backseat is going to plow right into me.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, which is a very convoluted maze of hills and weird streets, but the drivers are generally friendly, so I never learned to deal with roads where you have to constantly watch out for people cutting you off (and cut people off yourself if you ever want to get anywhere). State College traffic is pretty minor unless it's a football weekend (when it literally becomes the third largest town in Pennsylvania thanks to the hordes of traveling fans). In that case, I avoid driving as much as possible. We live right near town anyway, so if we want to go out to eat, we just walk or ride our bikes. If I have to go to the store, I wait until late at night when the crowds are asleep.

Something else that I feel belongs in this thread came to mind last night.

A couple days ago, my Mom recieved a letter from someone named Kathy. I think she's one of our aunts, but I'm not completely sure on that. Just about all of the letter pretty much consisted of her telling Mom that she was a bad parent / doing a bad job of parenting my sister. The only bit I managed to read of it was the end, which said "Because I care". Just yesterday night, I overheard my parents talking in the kitchen, about how Mom had recieved another letter from our Aunt Patty, basically saying the same thing as the previous letter did, except adding in things such as "you're a bad wife" and the like

I for one am sickened by those two people now. They're grown people, and one would think they'd have a bit more common sense by now.

Anyways, there was also a gift on the counter that someone else gave her, being a picture frame, and a card as well. I can't say much about the picture frame, but the card was a normal "Happy 25th Anniversary" type thing.

That got me to thinking about the letters recieved possibly being part of a joke, since their anniversary is coming up at the end of the month. I don't know how significant that number is, but as of right now, I see it as being very possible.

After all that, as said in my previous post, we're going to my Uncle's house this Saturday. For all I know, Aunt Patty will definitely be there, and I'm not sure about Kathy Now, what I have to ask of any of you is, what do you think the chances are that the real purpose we'll be heading to Wingham on Saturday is for a 25th anniversary celebration? Schedules and such only really permit us to go down there this Saturday, as next weekend, my parents are going to Niagra Falls for whatever reason, and the rest of the days school and such would get in the way.

I'd really like to get to the bottom of this before the 24th, as it's got to be really hard on my Mom I was hoping to find the email address of one of the letter senders today, but so far, I've had no luck, which has lead me to write an email that will go to my Uncle, since he has to know of any plans that are going on.

Now, I realize this thread was a decent ways down the page before this post, but it's only a 1 day difference, which I hope doesn't count as a bump

No, this isn't really a bump. Hell, as far as I can people can keep posting in this thing for months.

That whole... drama (for lack of a better word) is kind of wierd. Hopefully it won't lead to something unwelcome. I really don't know what else to say other than it's pretty messed up x.x

My unimportant dilema at the moment is of trying to learn/familiarize myself with C++. PsySal told me that I should learn Python after that because I can pretty much use it and C/C++ together and make the best out of both languages. I'm not sure yet whether or not that's going to add an unreasonable amount of time to my learning how to program.
