I have to write a one page autobiography on myself.
Easy? No.
I can't do it.
Its only the 5th day of school for me and I am already facing writer's block.
Have any of you guys faced the terror and annoyances of writer's block?
If so, how do you deal with it?

If you have writer's block, how can you post so much on a message board?

Easy cure: Log off the board, go for a walk, and then do your damn homework.

Ugh... bane of all evil. Writers block.

The exact reason why I never finish a fanfiction.

Just sit down, jot some thoughts down on paper, and expand on that. It will normally write itself from there on.

I hate writes block, thats one of the reasons I never do any writing besides whats required for school, that, and I have a 0 imagination, but what I did was stop writing, and relax for a few minutes, and then without writing anything try to imagine what could come next, doesnt always work, but it did for me sometimes.

Good advice. But what I do is play a word game. You start with a word (ex. essay) then add a word to the last letter (ex. yellow) and repeat. Helps me think of topics at least. Or just write something, and you will get on the right track, then you can edit. You seem to have a computer, so that shouldn't be too hard.

He's right, Snika. This is a distraction, do you think you'll be able to focus on homework while browsing? No.

If you can't even write about yourself, you're pretty sad. Sign off, leave the computer, sit down and write. It's not a hard topic, it's actually the easiest topic there is.

So take that essay and rewrite it. Find out why you didn't get a 100 on it, rewrite it so you do. Bam, easy as piss.

especially one friggin page

you already wrote 3/4ths a page bitching about the assignment in the first place.

Maybe if you close firefox and set your crack pipe down for a whopping 10 minutes you could manage to "scrounge" up a pissy page of text.

Actually, I myself would not know where to start with an autobiography. It's always these open-ended assignments that get me.

I suggest just writing something down, and from there, things will fall into place. Seems to me that the hardest part of writing is starting it, and then finishing it Image hosted by Photobucket.com.

He's got a horrible scroll layout and is bitching about homework. Do you honestly think he uses Firefox?

But it seems we're all in agreement here: You seem to have no problem writing about the assignment, so you can't truly be that burned out.

Haha. Yeah you guys were right after all.
I've got pretty much most of it done now.
But, um... This thread was kind of going in the wrong direction that I wanted.

I was more using my paper as an example of writer's block.
Please, feel free to post your first hand experiences with it such as how you failed an assignment or how you took a walk in the rain and then you came back and then wrote it all.

Edit: I do use FireFox, and sadly my crack pipe got lost in the wash.

There's your problem! Withdrawl is known to cause SERIOUS writer's block, as well as 500 billion other things, like random bedwetting, cold sweats, and that "old feet" smell coming from your fingernails.

Oh... I thought I smelled old feet.

Okay, I am officially done now. Due to the fact that I don't want anyone to find me and cut me, all original names, places, grades, and ages have been replaced.

MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Who is Bob Night? Is he a god among other men? Is he a handsome devil, ranking top against Tom Cruise and Ashton Kutcher? In all reality, Bob Night is just an average eighteen year old high school student. How did this come to be? Soon you will be enlightened.

Long before the time of Bob Night, two people met each other. Martha Benzlo, a young woman at the time, grew up in her hometown of Bilsley, Montana. She had lots of friends and a decent education, and the last thing on her mind was finding a husband. One of her friends mentioned that her friend was in town and Martha might like him. They set up a blind date, and before you know it, Martha really hit it off with Gordon Night. Eventually they decided to tie the knot and get married. Although Gordon was from Texas, they decided that if they had children, Montana would be a better place to raise them. After 40 years of being happily married, Gordon and Martha Night conceived a child, young Charlie Good Night.

Born in Hope Medical Center on July 19, 1964, Charlie Night¢¯¿½¯¿½ life began. The happy family of three lived in a small house up on the hillside of Bilsley. Gordon and Martha took quite fondly to their little son, and Gordon decided that parenting wasn¢¯¿½¯¿½t that much of a bother as he originally thought. Pretty soon, when Charlie was roughly 3 and a half years old, Gordon and Martha decided to have another child. In preparation for the new baby, the family decided to pack up and move down the street a little ways to a bigger house fit for four people. By the time Charlie was three, his little sister, Rebecca, was born.

As Rebecca was just entering her early years, Charlie was just starting to go into his childhood. Charlie quickly took fondly to the distraction Rebecca provided for him. Charlie was finally no longer the center of attention, and had plenty of free time to play Scrabble with his dad while his mom took care of Rebecca. His free time was quickly broken when he turned 5 years old. Preschool was forced upon him, and reluctantly, Charlie Night began to attend Young Hands¢¯¿½¯¿½ Preschool. Charlie took to school quite well, and by the age of 5, Charlie made it into kindergarten at Bigger Hands¢¯¿½¯¿½ Elementary School. His years there were greatly enjoyed. In 3rd grade, Charlie began excelling in school well. Although he struggled in math, he still managed to achieve straight A¢¯¿½¯¿½s throughout the year. By the end of 8th grade, Charlie felt like he was ready to tackle High School.

High school opened up a whole new chapter in Charlie¢¯¿½¯¿½s life. He quickly changed his alias to Bob and sported a new look. Nothing could stop him from getting through high school! 9th grade was a breeze for him, with minor blemishes on his record on mid-year marks. As the 9th grade year ended, he felt like he did the best he could. The summer rushed by, and 10th grade came with a whoosh. The first few days seemed to go smoothly. He greatly enjoyed his teachers and classes. But...

¢¯¿½¦The documents on Bob seem to trail off somewhere here... No one knows for sure what happened to Bob during the rest of 10th grade, or during the rest of his life. Rumors of a successful business relating to apples have gone around. Others say that he had pursued a career in plumbing and ended up starving on the streets of L.A.. In the end, nobody really knows who Bob Night really was...

That goodness for Microsoft Word's Replace feature. Oh, please excuse those weird symbols. Any suggestions on the story? Please keep in mind I am not writing a high school analysis before you flame me to death.

Yay you finished it!! I don't get to write about myself too much. When I do..I wonder if it would be wrong but then how could it since it's about me? Yeah, I get writers block. I probably will tomorrow trying to write my first essay. I haven't wrote once since I had to take some assesment test. I forgot how I deal with it..I just do it and think until I can get something into the computer or on paper.

Just pointing out how you're not writing in the third person there. Are you "weirded out"?

I don't consider Acmlm's like writing.
I meant as in writing a report.
It'd be pretty funky if I did that...

Example:
Snika doesn't consider Acmlm's as writing.
Snika thinks it would be pretty funky if he did that.

Actually, Snika kind of likes that.
