Okay, here's something I stumbled upon at my Wal-Mart the other day.
Have you ever tried one of those huge bags of cereal made by Malt-O-Meal?
For some reason, which I haven't figured out yet, they're cheaper, larger, and healther than the regular box brands. Isn't that weird? WTF?
Who else has heard of that here?

Me.

They also don't taste as good. 'course, I'm more of a hot breakfast person. Eggs and sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, stuff like that.

Dunno about healthier. They probably cut a few corners ingredient-wise which probably affect taste/texture more than anything.

I'm more of a brand name guy. I know there's some no-name cereals that aren't bad but it's not like I've tried any.

Malt-O-Meal isn't bad. Are those the kind with like a kangaroo on the chocolate wannabe pebble bag? If so, that's all my parents buy besides Cornflakes. We barely buy namebrand..or not at all so I don't really know the difference

Malt-o-Meal? Doesn't sound appetizing, really Image hosted by Photobucket.com.

But nah, never heard of it, and will probably never try it.

Never heard of it?! They sell it at..wait..I don't think they sell it at Raleys. Well at most of the stores we tend to shop at they have it. The prices were actually raised so now it'd be almost better to buy the brand boxed cereals but then those dont really offer you too much in the little boxes .

Malt-o-meal is all I buy man, you get the same exact thing for way less. It's not like soda, where it's cheaper, and lower quality. It's just cheaper, because they don't advertise.

Before I read the post I thought you were talking about this strange corn paste.... thing:

I think my family was like the only family that ever even heard of that stuff where I used to live... I used to eat it, it's bland as hell, but it mixes well with sweet stuff like syrups and fruit.

With some sugar, of course.

Generic brands aren't so bad.

The 'generic' brand where I live is "Compliments Value", and I really don't find much of a difference, except for the price.

And with the way everything keeps going up in price..

Really, I see no difference between generic brands and name brands. It all tastes the same to me.

Once i tried a general brand cereal, but didn't like beacause it didn't have too much flavor. I've always chosen chocolate based name brand cereals. The one that i eat is this:

I know they sell it in Europe also. Is it sold anywhere else?

...WTF. Are those wedge-shaped pieces or something like that?

Closest I can think of to that is Nesquik but that comes in balls, like Corn Pops.

Seems that way...

Maybe I should throw out that box of Malt-O-Meal I see in my kitchen cabinet that hasn't been touched in five months... though I have to agree, that the Malt-O-Meal stuff taste bland... more like glue if it's not eaten in ten minutes. (¬.¬)

And the kind of chocolate ceral I've seen mostly is that Cocoa Puffs.

I haven't seen it sold anywhere around here . My parents hate buying name brand cereal and it comes in such a little box so we go with the generic cereal and cornflakes.

I don´t think I´ve seen that one in any store where I live. Or maybe I haven´t searched enough.

But I´ve eaten something with chocolate flavour that looked similar to those.
