| It is my pleasure to announce the first Sim-Battle Tournament of the 'new board.' For those unfamiliar with the process, all fighters who register will be placed randomly within a bracket. Battles carry on normally as they would at any other time in this forum, but the only parties allowed to post within a thread are the two fighters (or, in this case, teams of fighters) and, if necessary, the tournament officials. Each battle shall take place in a seperate thread, the creation of which is the responsibility of the higher "ranked" fighter (though, since placement is random, this rank is arbitrary). For this tournament, it's been decided to conduct battles between teams of exactly three fighters each. Each fighter must be an individual poster - that is, NPCs (non-player characters) shall not be permitted. If you do not have two partners with which to form a team, do not fret: you will be placed with any other fighter who similarly lacks a group. A minimum of 24 fighters - that is, enough to form 8 teams - shall be required for this tournament to take place. If you are interested, simply provide your fighter's name as well as the person or persons with whom you shall fight. If you are ungrouped and will need to be placed within a group, please indicate. The gracious Kirbynite is currently the sole judge, though that is subject to change. To the best of my knowledge, each battle will not be fought to its conclusion but will instead take place within a given period of time. At the conclusion of the period, each fighter's performance will be assessed (based on factors that I'm not sure enough of to discuss at this time) and a winner will be selected. The number of entries will determine the number of losses (double-, single-, or something more complex) allowed before a team is expelled from play. So, any takers? | The linen-robed, solid looking man who read the lengthy proclamation took a deep breath and set the scroll on the registration table before him. "Thank you, exalted warrior," he responded to Kirbynite, bowing deeply. "Though 'tis not my work, but the work of my superiors in this grand arena. Yon commanders called for a high spectacle to be held for one and all, and I did naught but deliver their word." Turning to address no person in particular, the speaker continued, "In any case, my fellows and I shall endeavor to overtake our rivals in a supreme showing of battle might and glorious gallantry! Let me add mine script to yon list!" Pulling a dry quill from the leather belt which secured his shin-length white tunic, the man leaned over and examined the registration sheet. He wet his quill in a nearby font and meticulously penned "Callean Silvershield" in broad, ornate cursive. "'Tis done and done. My skilled cohorts shall surely add their names in due time, and this great edifice will quiver with the prospect of such a troupe!" Politely nodding to each bystander individually, Callean Silvershield tucked the scroll into his belt and departed for the time being. |
