Since I'm obviously able to post right now, this topic applies to my second computer. The specs for it:

Windows XP with DirectX 9 (no service pack yet)
256MB ram
Athlon XP 2500+ @ 1.8ghz (read my cpu thread about this)
Biostar M7NCD Pro
nForce chipset?

Anyway, Windows doesn't properly detect the onboard ethernet. Manually adding it makes Windows think it's a Microsoft Loopback Adaptor. WTF is that? Two different drivers sets aren't working. 1 is from Biostar, the other is Nvidia's. Here's the board's page: http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7ncd+pro

Great board. Has no lame intergrated graphics, and includes absolutely every CMOS option needed in serious overclocking. The ultra model can use SATA. The lack of that on mine is a disappointment.

Was it working fine before? Or is this a new board?

If it just up and quit, and the drivers don't work, AND it's being detected as the wrong device, then it's probably broken. You can try the old "cure-all," reinstalling Windows, or double-check your BIOS settings and make sure it's still enabled and properly configured in there. If all else fails, basic PCI Ethernet cards are really cheap nowadays.

Never mind. The LAN adaptor was somehow disabled in CMOS. I've got some networking and other issues, but it's too much for here. I'll bring them up in a one-size-fits-all super thread tommorow. Too late at night... Someone else is using the same time zone as me? *Yawn*
