OK, not sure what is wrong with my laptop, but I had to use my dad computer to make this post. My computer freezes at random times. Sometimes it freezes in the middle of Winamp or something, but most of the time it freezes before it even gets to the splash screen or in the middle of BIOS. It freezes all the time at different times. Anyone have any idea what it could be.

It freezes at the BIOS as well?

Uhn... something is wrong with the hardware. If it's a laptop, then I don't recommend trying to fix it yourself.... contact your laptop support people.

You can use memtest86 to check it out for sure. If things are getting garbled on the screen, it's probably RAM failing, though RAM can fail because of a bad power supply too and not actually be damaged.

And are you sure you know how to install it? Laptops can be pretty difficult to upgrade.
