Well, as most of you guys know, the board needs money for hosting, right?

Just for fun, to provide a bit of incentive to donate, I thought it might be fun to have an Art Auction, with all the money going towards the board.

For the top 3 bidders, I will draw 1 piece of 'commissioned' artwork. No hentai or guro or such, but pretty well whatever you'd like.

The picture will be colored (unless you request otherwise), and I'll provide you with the source work for the file when done (ie, Photoshop and openCanvas files) in high resolution so that they can be printed if you like.

Top 3 bidders only at the moment (as my average piece of art can take 10 or more hours to color alone).

So, to recap:
  • Top THREE bidders only
  • Money goes to the board
  • one piece of art per bidder

Examples of my artwork include this layout, and all of the stuff on my website (under construction)

So, ladies and gentlemen, start your bidding.

So suppose someone wanted to bid... what payment methods would they be using? And I assume you're going by US dollars? If I can send a check or something, I'll put in 10 bucks Canadian, which is currently about $8.42 US.

[edit] Hell, make it an even $10 US. It is for the board. (FYI: Here's a currency convertor on the Bank of Canada website.)

Yeah, US dollars, and um... I shall have to work out how things are actually paid. I might need to discuss with ||bass or something. I'm sure something will be worked out

Great idea,

Just wondering, how long would this last? And after the bids are all said and done, how long will it be until the winner(s) would have to pay up? (but then again, I don't mean to get this answered now, since this whole project is still up in the air. )

Hmm, I'm bidding $10 US.

Maybe giving it a week or two so everyone has time to bid would be good.

Hm, I see a problem. I already bid 10, but we both submitted at the same time... This thread is already getting a lot of replies, so I bet that happens fairly often.

Hell, 11.

Out of curiousity, if you fail to make the amount needed to save Acmlm's, will individuals get their money back?

Well, it would be up to board management if any donations (including -- but not limited to -- those generated by this auction) are refunded, not me.

In relation to this specific thread, well... it's an Art Auction. Provided I do the commissioned artwork for the bidders, then as far as I'm concerned, bidders are not entitled to a refund. They will have gotten what they paid for.

Would it be ok for me to send the money privatly to you through postal? I would send it in Australian dollars... unless you prefer getting it in US dollars. I can't donate directly due to not having credit card... thought I may get one in a month or two.

Oh well, I bid $25.

I wonder what will happen to this money then if this is the case.

Again, that is a decision I think may be best left to management. I am not instrumental to the fundraising issue here at Acmlm's Board, I am just attempting to come up with a fun way of doing it.

Now, Thayer, if you don't mind, I'd like to see this thread return to bidding. I don't think this is the appropriate venue for discussion on how the staff plan to handle donations. If you have further questions, perhaps somebody like ||bass may be the person to ask, or another thread may be more appropriate.

Feel free to resume bidding, what I initially wrote in response to this paragraph has been moved graciously (I mean that sincerely) to this new thread: Questions about Donations . I'll be so kind now as to not ponder my thoughts further on your auction. Apologies.

Kitten Yiffer, I will discuss with you later how it might be best to arrange payment. I think this might be something also for the Questions about Donations thread -- to find out how best to handle donations/auction bids for interested parties who do not have credit cards.

Ooooh, and it's up to $25 USD... hee hee... (And here I was earlier wondering if I'd even get any bids on this... proved me wrong, didn't you guys? )
