An exciting match saw both sides control the game for a bit until Junior's last-minute goal set up extra time, followed by the dreaded shootout. Both sides missed their first shot then were perfect up until the sixth set of kicks; Helsingborg's shot went well wide and as a result they're out of the cup.

Derby County - Bodo/Glimt

YAY. Yep, a shootout cuz I had to be dramatic. And I won!
Up next, Norway.

(Note: If there's any terms/etc. you guys don't understand, ask and I'll explain. )

August 5th, 2004

Acmlm-FM Cup Semi Final results:

Derby County 2-0 Bodo/Glimt (Junior 105, pen 107) [1914]

Bodo did extremely well in taking the game into extra time despite being totally outplayed at times, but a quick two-goal salvo by Junior - including a marginal penalty - saw Derby advance to the final.

Chievo Verona 3-1 Djurgarden (Giacomi Bissoli 45, Luciano 60, Massimiliano Fusani 68; Daniel Sjolund 10) [1194]

Djurgarden got off to a dream start through Sjolund's goal and looked to have the better of the first half until Bissoli scored before the teams went to the dressing room for halftime. The Swedes looked shaky in the second half, and goals by Luciano and Fusani condemned them to defeat.

This led to the final, played on August 4:

Chievo Verona 1-0 Derby County (Giacomi Bissoli 80) [1187]

Derby were the better side throughout most of the game, but despite outshooting Chievo... well, none of their shots were actually aimed towards goal. Two of Chievo's were however, and Bissoli's strike from a tight angle sealed the win and the Acmlm-FM Cup. And I promise you guys that I did not cheat to win this in any way.

Next update (game time): September 1, when I should be able to give an update on every team. I think.

How can we be SURE that you didn´t cheat, Colleen?

Maybe you bought good players for that final.

Well we'll see. I'm still typing up the first batch of reports... I think things are a bit easier once this is out of the way.

Thayer Langer - Zafririm Holon (Israeli Liga Leumit)

Talk about your tiny, unknown teams. They'll just be happy to stay in the Leumit next season instead of being dropped to the amateur leagues. Only 45k is available for new players, but that's a lot at this level.

I'll be back... with a shofar horn to stick up your ass. omfg anti-semitism lololol

September 1st, 2004

Yes, this is late but I was trying to come up with some nice ways to output the data... sadly, they didn't work. And since the season is just starting, there's no need to go too in-depth, so... here we go.

Colleen - Chievo Verona (Italian Serie A)

League: N/A (Season starts September 11)
Coppa Italia: N/A

Absolutely nothing going on over here after my boys earned bragging rights for at least one season. The team seems healthy enough and we'll have our hands full in our first league match, hosting Inter Milan. (In case you don't know much about soccer... they're good.)

blackhole89 - Ã?BV (Icelandic Urvalsdeild)

League: 9th (4-5-6, 17 pts)
VISA Bikar: Eliminated in 2nd Round (BV 1-2 ór)

We might have our first manager set to be fired pretty soon. The bottom two teams in the Urvalsdeild are relegated to the 1. Delid; in other words, they get moved to a lower league. On the flip side, the top two teams in the 1. Delid enter the Urvalsdeild. This is pretty much a constant in ALL European leagues so don't worry.

Actually, blackhole has to worry. He has 3 games left and is one point away from safety... that would be 8th place. No room for dropping points now.

LizardKing - Bodø/Glimt (Norwegian Tippeligaen)

League: 10th (4-7-7, 19 pts)
If-cup: Advanced to Semi-Finals (Bodø/Glimt vs. Rosenborg, September 23)

The good news is that LizardKing's two games away from lifting the If-cup (Norway's domestic cup competition) but they'll have to get by Rosenborg to do it. Then again, he did get past SomerZ. The bad news is that their league form has to improve quickly with the season coming close to its end. Wouldn't make sense to win the cup and be relegated.

Yoshi Dee - GKS Katowice (Polish 1. Liga)

League: 14th (0-0-3, 0 pts)
Puchar Polski: Eliminated in 2nd Round (Zaglebie Sosnowiec 3-0 GKS Katowice)

Ashley is representing Brazil proudly. Well, if you can somehow fit no wins into the definition of proud. Oh well. The season is young and Miss Dee still has time to turn things around and save the mighty Katowice squad.

Dragon Master - Djurgården (Swedish Allsvenskan)

League: 13th (3-6-10, 15 pts)
Svenska Cupen: Eliminated in Quarter-Finals (rgryte 4-1 Djurgården)
Champions League: Eliminated in 3rd Qualifying Round (Deportivo 2-0 Djurgården; Djurgården 0-1 Deportivo)
UEFA Cup: Enters in 1st Round (Djurgården vs. VfB Stuttgart, September 16/30)

Sometimes taking control of a big team (well, a big team in Sweden) can backfire on you. Poor Djurgården is in deep trouble league-wise with only 7 games to go, and has an extremely tough UEFA Cup match coming up against the Germans. So... say your prayers, Dragon Master. You're going to need some help.

Max - Assyriska (Swedish Superettan)

League: 10th (6-6-10, 24 pts)
Svenska Cupen: Eliminated in 4th Round (Assyriska 1-2 Landskrona)

A pretty average season for Assyriska is winding down... their remaining schedule isn't difficult, and they should grab the handful of wins they need to stay up and prepare for next season's campaign.

Trapster - Beira-Mar (Portuguese Super Liga)

League: 7th (0-1-0, 1 pt)
Taça de Portugal: N/A

Trapster earned a 1-1 draw against Rio Ave to open up the Super Liga season. One game down, 33 to go... so don't read anything into that good result just yet.

NSNick - Dublin City (Irish Premier Division)

League: 8th (4-8-12, 20 pts)
Senior Challenge Cup: Eliminated in 3rd Round (Monaghan United 3-2 Dublin City)
League Cup: Eliminated in Group Stage (Group C, 2nd - 0-2-0, 2 pts)
Leinster Senior Cup: Eliminated in Quarter-Finals (Dublin City 0-2 Bohemians)

So many major/minor cup competitions in Ireland... so many wipeouts by Dublin City. But on the plus side, at least they're making steady improvement under Nick's management, and are out of the league basement with 9 games left in the season.

Danielle - Derby County (English Championship)

League: 16th (1-4-1, 7 pts)
FA Cup: N/A
League Cup: Advanced to 2nd Round (Notts County vs. Derby County)

Danielle's team can't help but earn draws in their matches when wins would be much more valuable and would give her bragging rights over a lot of you guys. But at least they beat Southend 3-1 to advance in the League Cup so yay.

Luigi-San - Sevilla (Spanish Primera División)

League: 4th (1-0-0, 3 pts)
Copa del Rey: N/A
UEFA Cup: Enters in 1st Round (Sevilla vs. Standard Liège, September 16/30)

Sevilla beat Albacete 2-0 to start the season on a winning note. Luigi-San has a lot of expectations to live up to with a team this large... let's see if he can withstand the pressure.

Lilmario - Cliftonville (Northern Irish Premier Division)

League: N/A (Season starts September 25)
Irish Cup: N/A
League Cup: Group C, 1st (1-1-0, 4 pts)
County Antrim Shield: N/A

Only two competitive games in the books so far for Lilmario, but they were good ones; Cliftonville has 4 games left to play in the League Cup Group Stage but at least they're off to a winning start. Good way to kick off what should be a busy year.

Emil Larsson - Helsingborg (Swedish Allsvenskan)

League: 11th (4-8-7, 20 pts)
Svenska Cupen: Eliminated in 2nd Round (Forward 1-0 Helsingborg)

All I can say is... at least Kitten Yiffer isn't managing Djurgården. Granted, Helsingborg isn't in great shape either, but at least they're a few points clear of relegation and have a decent chance of staying in the Allsvenskan next season.

Thayer Langer - Zafririm Holon (Israeli Liga Leumit)

League: 12th (0-0-2, 0 pts)
State Cup: N/A
Liga Leumit Toto Cup: Group 3, 4th (0-0-2, 0 pts)

Wow. Thayer totally sucks as a manager so far. I mean, this is Israel... you'd better be able to get some wins soon. It's not that difficult a league to manage in, honest. Keep your chin up.

Nick McCarthy - Ionikos (Greek National A Division)

League: N/A (Season starts September 26)
Greek Cup: Enters in 1st Round (Ionikos vs. Agr. Asteras, September 15/22)

The Greek league always starts late since I assume all the players want time to bask in the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. So Nick gets a little rest but he's going to have his hands full when the season starts.

The SomerZ - Tromsø (Norwegian Tippeligaen)

League: 4th (10-2-6, 32 pts)
If-cup: Eliminated in Quarter-Finals (Tromsø 0-0 (3-4p) Bodø/Glimt)

SomerZ is guiding Tromsø to an excellent season, but there's still some work to do. They're 5 points behind league leaders Viking, who also have a game in hand... regardless, if everything keeps going the way it is, SomerZ might be looking at a Royal League (competition for the top 4 teams in Denmark, Sweden and Norway) birth as well as a UEFA Cup spot. Fingers crossed.

MonopolyMan - Unirea Urziceni (Romanian Divizia B Group 2)

League: 16th (0-0-3, 0 pts)
Cupa Romaniei: Enters in 1st Round (Unirea Urziceni vs. Sânnicolau Mare, September 1)

And we can add Mono to the list of managers who really need to shed the "inept" tag from their resumes as soon as possible. Still has 27 matches to turn things around, but it's Romania; he's going to be caught taking a bribe to throw a match sooner or later.

Starting next update you'll all see the league standings so you know where you are.

Danielle: There's 24 teams in your league. So you're not doing so bad but you have too many ties.
