The GAME is for the 2004-05 season. I wasn't going to wait two months for the new version.

Well, at least I didn´t pick the least talented team so I´m happy with that for the moment.

GO PORTUGAL!

As far as Portuguese teams go, you weren't lucky though. A club like Porto would have been a great pick.

That bites.
But hey, as long as the team is decent..

Dei* manages them, all the team assignments are listed several times here.

Question - Is anyone else seeing instead of the Euro sign, and various crap for other characters? Seems to me like something might be up with the board...

I see those characters instead of the Euro sign. But I get that sort of thing a lot, I just assumed it was a font I didn't have or something.

I'm confused. I'm gonna check to see whether or not it's because of the Unicode on the board before I post my next update. It just looks weird having so much garbage.

Do you see it correctly or does EVERYONE see the weird symbols?

And my question was never answered. What is Ionikos?

Ionikos is a Greek soccer team. XD

They play in Nikaia, a suburb of Athens.

Oh, yeah baby! Sevilla's gonna kick yo behind!

July 15, 2005

Here is your official Acmlm-FM Cup Update as MOST teams prepare for the new season.

Played on July 8:

Djurgarden 3-1 GKS Katowice (Toni Kuivasto 14, Feliciano Magro 57, Jesper Blomqvist 65; Krzysztof Markotski 36 pen) [1215]

You could sense the talent difference between both sides. Djurgarden have more important things to worry about, but could run into fixture congestion if they continue on in the cup as well as the Champions League. They beat Katowice with no real difficulty despite a controversial penalty.

Played on July 13:

Derby County 3-1 Ionikos (Adam Bolder 3, Grzegorz Rasiak 49, Inigo Idiakez 71; Nikos Tsiblidis 41) [1888]

Derby showed great poise in beating a tricky Ionikos side. They never looked to be in real danger after their first early goal, and took control of the game in the second half for a comfortable win.

Zafririm Holon 0-2 Cliftonville (Keith Mulvenna 10, Russell Kerr 61) [86]

Only 86 fans bothered to watch this match that certainly couldn't be classified in the "high-profile" category. The Israeli side was left disappointed as Cliftonville held on for a solid victory.

Beira-Mar 1-1 Tromso (Beto 54; Hans Norbye 1) [327]
(Tromso advances via penalties, 2-4)

Tromso looked to be in fine shape early but let their guard down in the second half when Beto's strike found the back of the net. The match ended up going to penalties, and Beira-Mar's weak preseason form showed here as Tromso had no problems putting their shots away to advance.

Helsingborg 1-0 Sevilla (Thando Mngomeni 60) [16560]

A large crowd saw their home side stun favorites Sevilla, knocking them out of the cup. Mngomeni's goal was the difference as Helsingborg, who never looked to be outclassed by the Spanish side, stormed to victory.

Unirea Urziceni 1-2 Assyriska (Iulian Mazilu 37; Naramsin Oyal 14, Vasile Ciuca og 71) [75]

Another low-profile match, with only 75 fans bothering to show up. A rather dull encounter was decided when Unirea decided to pretty much throw the match away and put the ball into their own net.

IBV 1-2 Chievo Verona (Jon Skaftason 29; Franco Semioli 45, 45) [2942]

The Icelandic amateurs surprised Chievo with an early goal, but two rapid-fire injury time goals helped the Italians right the ship, as they ended up playing cautious soccer the rest of the way to secure their spot in the next round.

Played on July 14:

Dublin City 1-3 Bodo/Glimt (Alan Kelly 45; Trond Fredrik Ludvigsen 29, 73, Christian Berg 34) [108]

Bodo looked to be too much for poor Dublin in the early going, and even Kelly's late first-half goal couldn't spark the home side. The majority of the 108 fans flooded towards the exits after Ludvigsen's second goal.

The draw for the Quarter Finals, all on July 21...

Djurgarden - Assyriska
Derby County - Helsingborg
Tromso - Chievo Verona
Bodo/Glimt - Cliftonville

Wow.. Bodø/Glimt won with 3-1. Didn't really expect that to be honest. Then again, I have never been a big football fan, so what do I know?

July 22, 2004

Acmlm-FM Cup Quarter Final results:

Djurgarden 3-0 Assyriska (Jesper Blomqvist 13, Erland Hellstrom og 26, Kari Arnason 52) [1226]

Well... Max was right, his team did get stomped pretty badly. Giving up the own goal didn't help matters too much, and when Assyriska did have possession, they couldn't create any quality chances. A cakewalk for Djurgarden.

Derby County 3-3 Helsingborg (Grzegorz Rasiak 18, 20, Junior 90; Peter Graulund 2, Fredrik Svanback 35, Thando Mngomeni 58) [1912]
(Derby County advances via penalties, 5-4)

An exciting match saw both sides control the game for a bit until Junior's last-minute goal set up extra time, followed by the dreaded shootout. Both sides missed their first shot then were perfect up until the sixth set of kicks; Helsingborg's shot went well wide and as a result they're out of the cup.

Tromso 1-2 Chievo Verona (Thomas Hafstad 87; Amauri 15, Giacomi Bissoli 82) [9772]

Despite a huge crowd for the home side, Chievo controlled most of this match even though Tromso had a glimmer of hope late in the game thanks to Hafstad's goal. Regardless, the final score was 1-2 which means Colleen continues on in the cup and SomerZ got dumped.

Bodo/Glimt 2-0 Cliftonville (Stig Arild Raket 49, Olav Rastad 50) [347]

Not much to say here... Cliftonville looked to be quite outclassed and Bodo hitting two goals in the span of two minutes in the second half killed whatever chance the visitors might have had.

Semi Final draw, matches taking place on July 30, with both Bodo and Djurgarden playing on the 28th and 1st meaning they're playing 3 games in 5 days:

Derby County - Bodo/Glimt
Chievo Verona - Djurgarden

GOOD THING I ALREADY GOT MAD SKILLZ TO TAKE THIS TEAM TO THE TOP!

Man these names are hard to follow. I guess it would've helped if I had any interest in soccer or anything.
