Does anyone use this? Is it good? I'm considering switching to it, because bandwidth limits suck.

Heard of it. Heard many good things about it. But I also heard it sucks for gaming. Not sure why, thats just what some of my friends say...

Get Comcast if its available. Its very fast, great for gaming, and it is NEVER down or has problems.

I don't know about this one, but I would generally stick to Cox or Verizon Broadband. They are reliable for gaming and normal websurfing.

Nobody gets that we're talking about Canada here, huh?

Bell's fine as long as you're close to a DSLAM. They must have installed one here since my speed went up from around 90kb to 200kb this summer. You can get up to 3Mbits.

No, I do know you are talking about Canada (Points to Hypers location) because also I have 4 friends that live up there that are related to me in my family. Anyways, they love games and told me about it and they said its ok for RTS but not FPS or other high poly games. I said Comcast because I thought there was a Comcast Canada...Let me look it up...

EDIT: Yep. Comcast Canada See?

But this has nothing to do with internet connections.

This is the news section. (News does mean that it offers their ISP services in Canada, because they don't)

Comcast and Cox don't distribute DSL or Cable up here. That's why I knew you were off.

Comcast might have some interests in Canada but they certainly don't offer cable or anything along those lines. No idea about Cox.

I'm not sure if anything else is even available here. The only ones I know of (besides dialup) are Cogeco (which I'm using), Bell, and Netscape (which is AOL rebranded).

I don't really play online games; the real reason I wanted to switch is for bandwidth. Cogeco's limits are pretty damn small, even for their most expensive package (30GB/month) which costs 20 bucks more than what I have (15GB). (15 may seem like a lot, but see, I use BitTorrent. A lot. ) Bell's service claims unlimited bandwidth and only costs 5 bucks more, so I wanted to know what peoples' experiences with it are.

It's unlimited but you just have to roll the dice to see if you're lucky speed-wise. There's been some horror stories of people who have been downgraded in speed by Bell for no apparent reasons.

Yeah.... that.

My friend saw his speed go from 400kb/sec to 100kb/sec.

We never knew why

Bandwidth limits.. *snicker*. Sweden > You. Only real connection here with a limit is 100mbit from BBB.. and that's a 300gb limit.

Fun fact: Hyperhacker does not represent all of America.

Funner fact: HH doesn't represent America at all.

As for the speed thingy, their excuse is usually that you're too far away from a CO or DSLAM so they drop you down in speed. If you're POSITIVE your line supports it, you can ask them to bump you back up; but they also reserve the right to refuse to change your speed if you have problems.

Best thing to do is take it for a test drive and if you have slow speeds during your trial period, call and have them check it out.

Even funner fact: Funner is not a word.

Also, read my location. From: Canada, w00t!

That being said, I'll check out this trial. Won't that mean I'd need a DSL modem though, or will they lend me one? And will it matter that I still have a cable connection? For that matter wouldn't a trial be like the most basic package and therefore really slow, or the most expensive one and therefore really fast? Either way it wouldn't really represent the speed properly. Though as long as it's not really slow, I'm not too concerned, it's service I'm most worried about.

people who "mysteriously loose speed" are people who do stuff like bit torrent and bell finds them and they just cap it....

they do that because they know 99% of the people won't call and be like omg my bittorrents are going slow....

Whats really funny is, the cable company I get my internet from says they have a 10GB limit...but infact they dont....ive gone over then 10GB limit many times, and no price has been charged... been thinking of switching to DSL a few times though, because of downtimes I have, sometimes they happen a few times a month, a few months ago it was once a week...better now though.
