Hey.

Well, after months and months of work on past and present versions of my hack, Super Mario World: Mario and Luigi's Double Trouble!, I am proud to finally say that my first demo of this hack is ready (World 1 is done, and I have yet to do more work on the main OV)!

Here are links to the SS and download (it's zipped BTW):

Screenshots

Download

BTW, to anyone who reaches the Yellow Switch Palace (it's not that hard to reach), just ignore the smoke on the OV near the switch palace. I have yet to decide what to do with it.

Edit: Okay, my hack no longer has the mushroom ledges, so now (hopefully) it should be better. As for the difficul;ty, this world is kinda a warm-up for tougher levels (You guys will probably want many lives for some I may make in the future). If anyone wants to re-download SMWMLDT's first demo, be my guest.

You connected Mushroom platforms. They're mushrooms. They shouldn't be. You tried to pass off ripped Cheep Cheep gfx as impressive. They aren't.

And that, sir, is why I will not download your hack.

Feathers don't give you the ability to fly in real life, so they should be like that in Mario. Same goes for mushrooms making you bigger. And while we're at it, why don't we get rid of Yoshi, because the dinosaurs died out a long time ago?

The connected mushrooms look good, although you should put some "filler tiles" below it to make it look less ugly. Other than that, it looks very impressive.

Filler tiles?

No, I don't think I could do that.

Did you ever see the slanted parts of the stilt levels in DKC3, like Lakeside Limbo? There are wooden poles on each end, so those mushroom slopes are basically designed to look like bridges a little (heck, you can even see a bridge at the end of Kreeping Klasps in DKC3 for that matter).

With Yoshi, no I'm not getting rid of him. A world I'm going to work on much later in my hack is going to have levels where you need certain Yoshis in some situations.

Eh... Shouldn't you add your own TS demo...?

The connected mushrooms aren't impressive... but they're not as bad as GP says.

I don't see where he called the cheepcheeps impressive. O_o;

WAAY too square. And... you didn't add the "lines" at the sides of the cliff to show that it's "turning". I'm horrible at explaining these things... Hopefully you can understand.

Edit: Angelfire sucks. Check his SS page first.
Edit: Damnit, accidentally clicked edit before I was done typing.

I will have one, but it's going to be a while. Need to think about what to use here.

I'm thinking of reverting them back to their former selves. BTW, I may be new to LM, but this is a bit of a new concept to me to make a demo and get ratings.

I'm sorry the first OV looks so basic. But what else would I be able to do for a lake? After all, I wouldn't want it to be all water.

Wow, I knew Angelfire sucked, but I thought they would at least let you link to the images on the site they're hosted on.

The Mushroom Kingdom is a fantasy world, and I'm cool with that. It just bothers me when people try to make it an ugly fantasy world.

He didn't say that, but he posted a screenshot with the only apparent change being the Cheep Cheep. Besides that, the graphics aren't changed and the ground is arranged so unremarkably that it could be directly from the original SMW and nobody would be able to tell.

Mushrooms. Look. Ugly. Connected. Like. That.

That's all I'm saying. If it were a bridge of some sort, that'd be fine. It might look okay. But it's not, is it? It's a mushroom. And the tops are connected in an ugly way.

Now, as for asdf's, comment, you might want to look at this before you go interpreting things around here. And you better find a good way to implement mandatory Yoshi areas. I don't want any of that BS where you can get stuck in a level just because you happened to lose Yoshi. Always leave a secondary way out.

Fine, for those levels (I gotta warn you guys, when I get started on them, they will be among the very hard ones), I can make a secret exit only accessible with the coloured Yoshi found in each level.

That's something that isn't supposed to be reached quite yet.

I will have Cape Feathers in the next world, but for now, that area is "off-limits", so don't go there yet. Just take the normal exit.

Edit: Okay, it seems like I have not much choice but to do more work here. I'm not going to use mushroom ledges in this world, but instead, I will go back to using the regular ledges. I'll let you guys know when I'm ready.

Ok. I agree. They really really do look ugly. I look at it and siamese mushrooms don't sit right with me. I'm not telling you how to make your hack but I really think you should just make a bridge when you want to connect mushrooms like that. >.O

To be honest, I actually thought the slant was clever. He's not bad for a newbie and we should give him some credit. On a different note, the cheep cheep has already been done.

Yeah, you know what. I like the mushroom slant, it's unique. He probably spent a lot of time making the graphic just to show us what he can do. If I have to say anything, it's "bravo".

Alright, I downloaded it and here is my critisism:

1. The slant was quite a good idea, but it needs some work. I vote on keeping the slant and just adding onto its graphics.

2. Your levels are too easy. In fact, some of them might be easier than the first few levels of the original Super Mario World

3. Your secret exits are way too easy to find. I can upload and PM you an example of a harder secret exit from my hack if you want.

4. The rising and falling water in Iggy's Castle didn't make for that good of a challenge. I was hoping for more of avoiding Munchers or lava and that sort of stuff.

5. Yoshi's House needs to be changed more.

6. The Yellow Switch Palace is just..bad.

Now, for the compliments.

1. See #1 of critisism.

2. Your map design was very nice. I really enjoyed it.

3. Your fish, although used in many other hacks, looked nice. Credit for that.
