My vote goes to GameGear/ nomad, backlit, color and you can use the TV TUNER!

Neo Geo Pocket, it may not be backlit, but it's great and sharp and everything the GBA's had should been.

GameBoy Color pride, man! I took that thing everywhere with me back in the day.

I remember the days of fighting for a good spot to play so you could actually have some light. It was worth it so I could get my daily fix of Pokemon and Mario! Good games, good times!

The Game Gear (why is this option combined with Nomad? They are different systems... The Game Gear based off of the Master System, and the Nomad a portable Genesis... And does anyone know where I can buy a Nomad?) rocks, though the battery life is a huge downside...

It's possible that they use or he thinks they use the same type of screen.

Alas, I can't pick one because I haven't tried them all to see how the screens look.

It seems some of you have mis-read the question some how, this is about the best screen, and without a doubt, the Sega Nomad's screen is a better screen in every way. The Game Boy Color was out-dated as soon as it came out compared to the Nomad. I liked the crisp look the Game Boy color had, but it wasn't capable of the graphics the Nomad could produce, and you could only play it in a lit-up environmnet, so yeah... Nomad all the way.

EDIT: You forgot Turbo Express and the Atari Lynx on your list.
Turbo Express might be right up there with the Nomad (also had a tv tuner).

Because while it was not introduced in the 90s, it existed and was popular at said time.

I think it was released in America in 90 or 91.

Anyway, the Nomad screen was pretty sweet, if battery consuming.

It's one thing to perfer the screen quality, but your argument lost its effect with me when you compared the graphics of a portable Sega to a CGB...well, of COURSE it will have better graphics, but as you yourself pointed out that isn't what this thread is even about. Anyway, I loved the CGB screen...maybe because of all the memories associated with it, I'm not sure. All I know is, having owned each of these systems, The screen of the GBC served its purpose the best of all for its time. It really gave it that nostalgic, almost NES-like feel to a portable..if only it had a backlight
