So, do you share them? If so, why do you share and how many files are you currently sharing?

I'll start.
I'm a strong believer of sharing to keep the network alive, after all, if no-one shares anymore then finding files will become much harder with much lower download speeds. And you don't have to leave your P2P client open all the time, as long as you're downloading is fine to me. Altough sometimes I leave Limewire open just for the heck of it.
Oh and I'm sharing this many files.

Yes, but not all the time. I tend to just build up a really big share ratio, then basically coast on it for a few months (can only DL ~15GB a month anyway ) until it gets back to 1 or so, then share some more and repeat. At my favourite BitTorrent site I have a whopping 60GB more to download before I even get down to 1.0, which is quite awesome with such limited bandwidth.

I've pretty much quit using regular P2P systems, and when I did, I didn't share.

When using Bittorrent, I only share whatever I'm downloading, when I'm downloading it.

Good, indeed.

I use Opera DC and Azureus. I don´t have much to share at the moment, though.

Ah, I am kind of different depending on clients though.

Say eMule, WinMX, and SoulSeek, for example...I'm more inclined to have (very) high UL/DL ratios just for the sheer fact that I'm waiting in a queue just to get a file. Any time I go this route to get a file it's usually because it's rare or it's just not torrented.

BitTorrent, however, with the exception of possibly Superplay Vids, I'm more lax in my UL/DL ratio (usually no better that .5). In fact, my BoxTorrents ratio overall is around .420 right now on 30 gigs DL'd from there. Usually what helps it is just a matter of me being asleep and my DL/UL going as the file is shared. I don't keep torrents up for very long, though.

EDIT: Fixed the error.

Sharing is caring..which..I do because they make me. Whenever I log on to Limewire or something you go to uploads and those are the people who are stealing my stuff..nah share, share.

On Bittorrent I do..sometimes.

That supposed to say 1,827 files, Coby?

Geez...that's a lot? You ought to see the media I'm hauling in my MP3 folder alone. Goddamn I must have about 5000 of them (last I checked, a few months ago, I was at 4700 MP3s total).

Around 5:00 on each Friday of the week, I delete what stuff's been downloaded from Ares Lite, so as to keep the folder size down, but as for the rest of the week, people are free to download what I've downloaded from others, so in that respect you could say I do share Right now, 5 people have finished downloading a file from me (and possibly others). 4 of those 5 all got the same thing too. Dumb and Dumberer

When it comes to BitTorrent, I either leave it uploading for one day, regardless of whether I share 100% of whatever I downloaded, wait until I've got 100% uploaded, or simply close the program if there's no downloaders at all. I don't have anything going via that method right now though, seeing as everything I want I found on Ares Lite

On a whole though, I do try to share as much as possible, because other people had to share with me first so I could get the file(s), and it'd be rather rude to download something and never even think of sharing it afterwards

Fuck! I forgot about BoxTorrents. I´m a member there and I don´t think I remember my password or username.

I downloaded the first season of Ranma½ from that place.

I share as long as I'm not in a situation where it'd slow my computer down. If I have 4+ programs open for whatever reason.. yeah. Slow compy.

I've given a lot more than I've received though. A cookie for YD.

Yes but it depends on the site as far as BT goes.

- If the site logs upload/download, then I'll seed until at least 1.000 and possibly higher if there's a lot of peers.
- If the site doesn't log but if lots of people are downloading the file, I'll seed anywhere between 0.900 to 1.000.
- If the site doesn't log and I'm the only one who's downloaded the file in the last hour or so, I'll kill the torrent.

I don't intentionally share, but I think Limewire automatically does it.
When using BitTorrent, I cancel all finished downloads that are starting to share.
My computer is feeble and BitTorrent takes up a lot of memory, so I only have it open as long as I can.

I have two shares on eMule: it's own shared folder, and My Videos.

I have a lot of Aiko 3.0 things for Poser users and the better Star Trek episodes. Come on in if you want.

I tend to share over 100% over bittorrent, althought that's probably not that I want to share that much. More like of having good upload speed apparently.

But heh, I try to at least upload 100% to other users before I cutoff... I think I did share 600% and that was with tRO.

The most I've shared over bittorrent after a download was like..80 % but when I use it again I'll leave it on for awhile. I guess I don't have good upload speed.
