I'm using the tile layer pro to edit kirby superstar, but I'm so lost. the tiles are in messed up order and are different colors than normal (I think opposite) the tiles are so unorganized. Does this happen with everyone? If so how do you know what your changing? ?

For the palette, TLP just goes with its default SNES one, you would have to import the KSS palette into it. You can't do anything about the unorganized tiles, you have to assemble it, which is quite annoying sometimes. Just think of it as a jugsaw puzzle without the jigsaw.

You could probably find the palette in a ZSNES save state (.zst) of the game in the level or area you want to rip from. One of the palettes in the state should have the one you're looking for, because that's how the game loads the graphics with these colors. I'm not sure how you scroll through the .zst palettes, though. I have about no experience with TLP, I use YY-CHR.

loading a zsnes save state in tile layer pro doesn't actually load the correct palette. Snowbro himself has said something like that when he originally set the offsets for it, he used Super Metroid, and set the palette to be pulled from somewhere else, which, as it turns out, doesn't work correctly for any other save state apart from a super metroid save state (since that's the one he originally got the incorrect info from).

Tile Molester has a fix for this, so that it correctly loads palettes, but I wouldn't mind a fix for Tile Layer Pro

You need the Java 2 Runtime Environment 1.4.2 (or something to that effect) installed, and then you double click on the jar file (after you've extracted it correctly).

So yes, you are doing something wrong.

I just make my own palettes for TLP, using screen shots for referance. As long as you get the colors reasonably close, you should be able to tell what the graphic's gonna look like in the game.

yeah, that's what I do, all it takes is a screenshot and paint or whatever to find the colours, then just assign them correctly and save the palette so you don't ahve to do it again.

change it to a different format (SNES 4BPP is probably what you're after).

Oh my god, I keep trying all this crap and I can't get it to work.

I just wanna know, Is it like this for everyone? a pallette with few colors in the whole thing? I mean the go to the right colors in the game just not in the tile program.

Is anyone here doing Kirby superstar?
