| 50 dead in Mississippi? Why didn't THEY get out? God, I hope the number for Louisiana isn't much worse than that. At least the bulk of it has passed. Tomorrow we'll get more answers for sure. |

| And that number's going to go up for sure in the days to come since you're not going to know for sure until you can actually get INTO the city and into the buildings that were destroyed. Then again, when they're telling you to GET THE HELL OUT... unless you're superbly prepared and your house can withstand anything, you'd better leave or head to the Dome. |

| Martial law has been declared in New Orleans; 80% of the city is underwater and the water is still rising. I heard that there were 80 deaths alone in Harrison County. EDIT: Hurricane Katrina has been a general, well you know, pain in the ass for the rest of the south. All last night, we had heavy rain and strong wind all night and our power was knocked out all last night. (That's why I haven't been on since around eleven or so CDT.) There now seems to be a leak in our roof and there's just leaves and crap all over our road and backyard, etc. Then again, I don't think I should be complaining, as I still have a home, computer, power back on, etc. Those people in New Orleans and southern Mississippi don't have anything. | Yeah, many homes must´ve been demolished by the hurricane. It´s still worse to lose your life, though. I hope the goverment will pay for new homes. |

| Above 30 feet? So is that about how high the lake is since it won't be level until it hits that height? I think most houses would be completely under water..I wonder how the people in the Superdome are doing.. |

| Well, remember. New Orleans sits in a bowl. Water will rise to level itself out. It is flanked by water on all sides. It's never been flooded in an event like this. We'll have to wait and see. ...Did anyone see the movie Waterworld? |

| Reports seem to be that inside the Superdome things are getting a little Lord of the Flies-ish because of the terrible conditions. Outside it doesn't sound like things are much better. And the Bikoxi area on the Mississippi coast got more or less wiped out, 9 metre storm surge. I've heard all sorts of things, especially taking place near the Superdome; gunshots being heard everywhere, cops and firefighters joining in the looting, possible prison riots, possibly gangs trying to take control of what's left, and the whole town becoming like a third world hellhole. |
