This made me wonder -- if you're recoding the whole thing, why not calli t ||bassboard? If none of the code is Acmlm's, then it's not exactly an Acmlmboard anymore, is it?
Why not call it Kasumiboard or Bladesboard then? They're both doing dev as well (Blades is atleast supposed to be). The point of 2.0 isn't to reinvent the wheel.

The point of 2.0 is simple:

Acmlm's Board was origionally written before php had. support for classes. Now, with php5, we can have class objects in our code. All I'm trying to do is reproduce this board exactally as it is, using object oriented programming methods. The 1st release of 2.0 will probably be 95% identical to the board as it is now. I'm just trying to clean up the codebase with tools that were not available when the board was first written.

I don't want to make a whole new way of thinking here. Xk, you yourself have been saying 1.B was quite underwhelming and I totally agree with you. The current codebase is nearly impossible to code for. I'm just trying to clean things up so that the 1.B release disaster doesn't happen ever again.

I'm STILL fixing bugs in 1.B caused by untold pages of procedural code interacting in anoying ways. OOP can help make sure this doesn't happen again.

And doesn't work.

I'll just bring up some feature requests I've made before, plus some new ones:
  • Change female colours a bit. I can never tell which colour matches which level.
  • Customizable header text (up where 'x users currently in blah' is), with HTML (even Javascript and such) enabled. (Nobody besides you would see it, so you couldn't use scripts to exploit anything anymore than if you saved and edited a copy of the page.)
  • Proper [quote] tag.
  • Some notification when a layout you've blocked has been changed.
  • Make the spoiler tag customizable, or force its settings so that layouts can't override it and make the text readable.
  • When posting while not logged in, add an option to log in after posting.
  • Quick reply.
  • Show global announcements in index.php.
  • Allow double posting. If spam is a problem, require the posts to be an hour apart.
  • Less security holes.
  • Fix the themes!
  • When editing a post, show the thread like when replying.
  • When previewing/editing, don't shrink the text boxes.

I'll probably think of more.

I would have to say a new toolbar with more html "codes." Such as and and all that good stuff. Would make the toolbar fit the box and make it better. You could even redo the toolbar to an upgraded one.

I like some of HH's ideas too.

BTW: The code looks really good ||bass. I dont think I would have ever seen Acmlmboard coding that "clean." Non-the-less good work all of you on the Dev team.

I think that sums up v1.B.

As for the search thing, Xk has a good idea: look at the search code for phpBB, vBB, uBB, etc., and see if there's anything in there you can use to help fix the problem with everything slowing down.

Stay on topic or go get a life. It's your choice.
