Hehe, Katt kicks ass, yeah. What about Stan's knife attack, Fyxe ? It is nice done in the game, too
Just got up my lazy ass and set up four new sprites from RnH, I had trouble with one and its more than 30 frames, the other very easy due to their low amount of frames (usually four per enemy in its standing animation).
But even when I do only a few enemies due to my laziness per day ... except the too big boss sprites they would be neat ranks

I'd say Shy Guy Kingdom, but I just checked and there are virtually no Final Fantasy boss sprites there.

By the way, here's one of my best sprites I made... Would be insane as a rank because it's so large, but it's PERFECT and I love it.

I made it awhile ago, but I've revamped it recently so it's pretty damn perfect, now.

EDIT: Gandalf posted when I posted... Gandalf, I love those RnH sprites. I can't tell if they're any good as rips because I haven't played it, but they look very good. Oh, and I might make a Stan sprite but I haven't got that far in the game and haven't played much further than getting Katt on the team, unfortunately...

I have more Katt sprites, I made a whole bunch that you may of seen when I was using her as a rank.

I think all the normal enemy ones are fine with timing.. one problem with the bosses is it's a lot harder to get sprites, so they have to have a much lower framerate to be at the right speed. Hmm. Internet explorer doesn't like any delay lower than .1 seconds for some reason... I know other browsers do, but I'd like the ranks to work in most browsers. I could take out frames, but then it would look ugly.

Yeah, the Imago one needs to be reworked... apparently he does raise one wing before the other though, I don't know why.

Anyway, the process got much easier when I noticed I can pause VBA and advance one frame at a time... but a LOT of those sprites have pure black pixels which aren't transparent, which when I'm taking screenshots are indistinguishable from the transparent pixels.. wtf. Also, I had to fudge the top part of the left vine on the larva, which was blocked by my missile display.

Pretty much everything I've read on Zero Mission refers to it as the Brinstar Worm, so unless I come across a more official source that says differently, that's what I'm sticking with.. I might rework that one too, since I made it before I was doing frame-per-frame rips, when my process was "Set frameskip to zero and rapid-fire screenshot key"..

6 is the lowest you can do on IE. It's plenty fast enough, though. My Bee and Crow are both moving at 6. That's in 1/100 of a second, apparently.

But no, the normal enemies are not fine with timing. Sorry. ~.~ But they really aren't... Geruta, for example, moves far too slowly. Viola and Multiviola are moving slowly, or at least Multiviola is. Red Zoomer moves slowly (Geemer is what I call the ones in Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion (yes they appear in Fusion), but Zoomer is the more common name since Metroid Prime and Zero Mission).

Ripper moves immensely slowly. It's eyes don't seem to glow at a constant rate like the ones in the game do. It seems to turn at a good speed, I think.

I won't comment on the bosses because I'm unsure about them. And they're a bitch to sprite, so...

As for Clockworkz's Super Metroid ranks, Mellow moves very slowly, Geemers both move slowly, Ripper II moves slowly, there's something odd about the timing for the Skrees, Rio is just... Odd, and Geega moves slowly and appears to stop flying when it opens it's mouth.

...Hmm... Give me a minute... I don't have a Zero Mission ROM but I DO have Super Metroid...

Don't get me wrong, it's not easy to get these right, but... If you're gonna make these animations, might as well make the timing correct. Else it's all kinda meaningless. ^-^

I made all the super metroid ones except multiviola and yard, which have yet to show their faces here... heh. So I'm to take the blame for those too. Okay, this is kind of odd, because I'm using firefox now, and my normal enemies sprites seem to be moving slower than they did in IE... which is the opposite of what I expected.

Also, I use ImageReady, which doesn't use these numbers you're referring to... it sets frame delay in increments of a second. The lowest by default is .1 seconds.. I can choose "other" and set it to much more precise values, but they all seem to go the same speed in IE. So I'm kinda at a loss here. Maybe if I do regular shit instead of "restore to background", which I do for compatibility issues...

"Don't get me wrong, it's not easy to get these right, but... If you're gonna make these animations, might as well make the timing correct. Else it's all kinda meaningless. ^-^"
Actually I'm glad you point out the problems because I do want to make them as good as I can, as well as I can.

Well good!! I'm glad I'm not being insulting, I worry about that...

Anyway, I made a Mellow, Geemer and Red Geemer animations... I use Photoshop to make the .gifs, and Microsoft Gif Animator to animate them. These are pretty much perfect (that's what a Mellow looks like when it's not hovering up and down and left and right, anyway). The timing is pretty accurate, I believe.

So, take them and compare them to yours in ImageReady, then maybe you can see what I did with the timing. I'm not sure how ImageReady works, myself...

Of course, I have no idea how they'll look in Firefox, but anyhoo.

Just to let you know they look quite fine in Firefox, but I believe that the timing, from my eyes is pretty accurate. The Geemers have their feet moving at a nice rate, and the Mellow's quite nice... I guess the hovering of the Mellow makes the wings seem like they're moving a little faster.

Gandalf's sprites look good as well, in fact, everybody's set of ranks are pretty nice. Much better than that I have some on the net.

If there is something that I find annoying, that's GIF animations with no delay set.

You see, they tend to go crazy thoose animations in the computers I use at school, the computers plays the GIF animation in crazy speed, and slows down (almost freezes )

Firefox should play GIF animations fine, they do for me. I wonder when MNG animations will strike through. Firefox will have support for it soon (probably next version of it, I heard it was buggy so they left it out ), but IE (which hadn't any major update in years now) don't support it.

For me, Firefox plays back GIFs slightly slower than IE, but since I'm posting from a slower machine, it doesn't wonder. I also had trouble with the Ornith sprite above, in Rudora no Hihou it circulates and flaps plays uber-fast. Usually is is no good rip, because even the eye opens and closes occasionally; the GIF then would have needed about 60 frames in fully ... and when I think that (even if small) a certain number, like in many other RPGs, just comes back with a different color pallette, I'll see the amount of work coming to me
Another nasty thing might be even the emulator and the rank themselves. Today I set up four new sprites, I'm just showing one of them (Rudra ... 83 KB ) ... I ripped frame by frame and there are glitches as well ... since this is a combined boss; the capsule with me inside err Surlent only appears if you finish Surlent's scenario before Sion's (yes, SPOILER, I know; don'T do it, finish Sion's scenario first!
Rudra is far more harder than the bosses arleady are )
Rudra w/ glitches
There are many more beautiful sprites in Rudra, but I want them all; maybe really for an alternate rank set besides Fyxe's Zelda ones then; currently I've only 21 of them.

To all rippers outside ... maybe there is someone else who has some neat sprites which could be considered as custom rank sets (assumed Acmlm would implement that later)

It's not an cyborg, you really should play the metroid games Trapster.

Super metroid is probably one of the most underated game ever, heck I didn't hear so much about metroid before SSBM and Metroid prime. Which is kind of sad. (and yeah I hadn't finished Metroid prime, mainly becuse I forgot that I was playing it... hey I got another game )
