When I pass the first castle in the game, mario won't walk up. Why doesn't mario walk up? and I have had little experience with overworld level edit.

Make sure that:
1.There a way for it, Just press 9 in layer 1 16x16 editing mode to see mario path
2.the level enable the good direction, for this click on the level and then on the yellow dot icon, and look at the direction to enable when a exit is used
3.Open the overworld menu and select 'change no auto-move level and look if your level is one of these

that should be ok after that
