Hello! I don't know if you people are like me, but to each finished hack I have zillions of cancelled ones. This is the space to everybody show screens and talk about the hacks we will never play. Let me begin...

My "speciality" in Rom Hacking is create GFX-only hacks. Some years after trying change graphics AND levels of SMW (The also dead Super Mario Dream World) I decided to make a GFX-only Modification of Super Mario World. I quit the project really really soon, and never came back - even because Peter_ac already did the same thing...

Some screens:

The Nintendo Presents screen - just like the one of my other hack.

New logo and new logs

Only the mushrooms are changed.. I got bored before changing the rest

Those mushrooms look terrible. They just look... ridiculous, especially since nothing else has the same style.

Was there a point in showing the first screenshot? Woo, you edited a tiny portion of GFX00...

Actually macbee, you were the one who gave me the idea in the first place to make a GFX hack. I asked you in that thread you made back then, if you were going to use rips, but you said you were going to use original GFX only so I went ahead and made the ripped GFX hack myself.

Ah, dead projects. Mine is SMW+6. That was quite a complicated hack, had a cool storyline in my opinion, and plenty of gfx from the ExGFX Workshop. But I axed that because there were just too many to problems with it that was beyond repair.

Only screen I could find of the disaster piece was here...

Ah well, at least I made a complete YI hack after that . Look for it in the next few days (Seriously Peardian hurry up ).

Not so much dead projects, but you could spend a damn long time counting all the different ideas I've considered implementing into my SMW hack, and in some cases begun to implement. A Sonic-style hack, an Inuyasha hack, a Space Oddesy 2001 hack... and hell, I might end up doing some of them eventually, but for now I've pretty much made up my mind for this hack.

Not sure if anyone except Ice Man knows this, but my hack, Super Mario Era, is cancelled also. It got corrupted (level layout and graphics) with the move from one PC to another. I burned it on disc, but that disc got corrupt. These were the only screen shots (well pretty much anyway) that anyone ever saw:

Level Shots

Overworld

Here is another dead hack of mine, SMW: The Lost Levels.

Very poor job here, I decided not to insert new gfx or a new overworld since I wanted to have it be like an equivalent to SMW, as SMBLL was to SMB. Thus, many people did not go for the idea due to the lack of gfx and new overworld, so SMWLL got the axe .

WHAT?? You can't tell me you lost that masterpiece! That was one of the best SMW hacks I've ever seen. That sucks that it went corrupt - really, I was eager to play that one.

As for me, I don't have any dead projects . . yet . . but I can bet anything I will soon

See, that's why you back up big projects to several mediums. When I'm working on hacks or programs, I back them up frequently to a separate partition on my HD, keeping all backups in case I need to go back a few versions. Every now and then I dump the latest version onto a floppy disk, CD-ROM, or my FTP server. And if nothing else, you can send trusted people unlocked demos (or just use RLM on your last release ) and work from there.

Bah! Who cares about fancy graphics? Nintendo obviously didn't. I say finish it anyway, and if the level design is truly great, graphics won't mean a damn thing. (Unless they're really crappy. ) Though a new overworld would be a good thing to do.

Well I don't want to finish it since I hate to hack SMW now, although Aioria did say he was continuing it. That was months ago and I haven't seen any progress since, that and knowing Aioria, we can safely assume this hack is dead.
