Alright time to add some spice. Im up for Megaman X2 Speedrun. Unless anybody has any ideas for a hack that would be fun to have a speed contest?

Anyhow throw some ideas by sunday evening/night and the contest will start.

After it starts for proof of your time you must upload a zsnes/snes9x movie or regular video preferably video. The time period will probably 1 week exactly from the day started.

So Help pick the game/hack we are to use so we can get started!

I vote we disqualify snes9x videos, for they can be used for tool-assisted runs, which is totally against the spirit of this.

Use of emulators in general is asking for trouble on that front, though I A. Don't really follow the TAS scene enough to know what the latest in SNES reecording technology is, and B. Can't particularly think of a better way to do this.

You really cannot prove the non-useage of tool- or even within-emulator-assisted runs.
I rather might suggest, instead of making speedruns, just something like reactivating a Tetris Attack thread, like on the old Acmlm's Board.

I just played yesterday, and my poor 4000 to 6xxx points in Time Trial were nothing to my opponent who pulled out 20000s and even much more in the matches

Back to those speedruns:
I actually adore watching these in games like Super Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission and the Mario games ... but as stated, doing this on an emulator really isn't the same thing - also I'm still proud beating the Ancient Cave in Lufia II on a real SNES several times. On the emulator it is just a joke - there's speed up, save states (and then people say they did it on an amulator, with usage of these ) and other tricks

Yeah, seriously. Beating the original Megaman on NES is all hell hard.

Beating it on an emulator makes it easy.

Why is MM1 easy on emulators? Because of saved states? I can breaze through MM1, emulator or console. I really don't see how it makes a difference unless you cheat using an emulator's special features (well, and I prefer keybaord controls to gamepad controls for the NES).

In fact, I just did a run through the game right now in Schpune. I managed to beat it with 4 lives lost, all because I did it the hard way (using the P weapon most of the time instead of special weapons). Elec Man killed me the first time once, and then two more times in the second Wily stage. Dr Wily himself killed me for the fourth time because Guts Man cornered me and depleted the majority of my remaining health (I simply couldn't get anywhere else). As for special weapons, I used the cut blade on the second Elec Man because he had already killed me twice and I was really frustrated with him, I used the Guts weapon to finish off the bubbles, and I used Fire and Cut weapons to kill Dr Wily (and in doing so show off a useful bug with the Fire weapon). I did record a movie, in case some people are interested in seeing it. I'm not very happy with it since I'm really rusty right now from not playing the game for a while and being used to altered physics and whatnot from a few hacks, but I don't want to run through the game again, so whatever. My point, anyway, is that Mega Man 1 isn't hard, even if you don't use saved states (though it can be tough if you don't use the Cut weapon on Elec Man ).

Hmm good points good points...
Speaking of points isnt that even easier to cheat upon... by lieing.

So weather we do ZMV's or screen captures or just say your score.
On the other hand an AVI can be made of the gameplay with a screen recorder that can easily be downloaded and make AVI files.
It really doesn't matter much to be but AVI files would be rather tidius to upload/download and ZMV would be easiest and stating a score w/snapshots would be even easier.
So tetris attack you say? On time attack that wouldn't be too bad a contest, But what about tetris for score?

Too bad, Abused Rib isn't active anymore (what about Maticolotto? Anyone heard something about him?), I would say if someone achieved something like more than 60k in 2P Time Trial mode ... that might be nice to have recorded. He went for 99999 in Endless for about little more than three and a half minute - I needed 48 minutes the last time

I also would like to play against him, on the other hand there are the experts, certainly on ZBattle - I barely survive more than two or three minutes - my weak 6x chains (without garbage blocks) cannot even scratch these people, doing x10s and higher one after another
I'm too weak. On the one hand I beat the VS. mode on very hard without one continue one day, today I needed six of these (I just make regresses although I play very much ), and in 2P Time Trial I hardly get something above 6k - level 1, easy ...

If you wanted to record something in TA, gogogo. I like to watch good ZSNES movies and/or AVI files
