I found a Beta Japanese SMW rom, but strangely it wont load in any emulater...Well, I looked into it with TLP...Well, of course it was compressed, but lo and behold I found some stuff that looks quite odd and amazing!

Number One circled, if you look hard enough, you see what looks like to be a HUGE mario hat!!! Its got the M and everything!!!! These GFX are in SNES 3BPP by the way...

Number 2 is what also appears to be an enlarged Marios hat!!!

And Number 3...Well....Im not sure, becuase I never saw anything like it....Or at least I think...It looks like a lost enemy!

I would love to know how to decompress this Beta, because who know what we can find!!! (Although...it still wont load up in emulaters...It just crashes them...)

You know what...EDIT. I just remembered...The hat is from the credits! DOH! But what about that enimey!

EDIT2!!! I also noticed that there are large breaks in the tile data, and in each break has a Japanese character at the start of the next set!! Not sure if it was like this in the final one or not...

EDIT3!!!!! And it gets better and better!!!

Firstly, theres a mario, and some kind of Yoshi/Frog thing doing a jig in the top left corner, and some kind of Fish that looks...real-like, in the bottom right...

You shittin' us? If not, wow.

Number three looks like the Yoshi fireball. Also, right above the circled "Mario Hat", you can see what appears to be a section of the Bowser overworld sprite.

The first of the "don't mind this" almost looks like a fire flower. The bottom right resembles a Swooper if you look at it straight, but when you look at it from an angle, it looks like a jumping fish. Might have been something like that fish from SMB2.

And another! This is about everything stupid, weird, or real tiles...

The thing outlined in a Pink box...Look at it carefully...Its like... A baby bowser with a tooth in front...Or something like that. Everything else is labled.

Im thinking some of this has GOT to be Beta stuff...I mean, SERIOUSLY. This stuff is whack! Whats with that Mario and Frog doing a jig!?!?!?!? GAH!!!! Someone tell me how to uncompress this thing!

Its also not openable in Lunar Magic!!!!

Nice finds. Get the address where the GFX starts and try to decompress them with Lunar Compress. That can help you find beta tiles.

Dump, lol. So what could these finds mean? Could it mean that SMW used to have some sprites and other elements it doesn't have now?

No, it means he found compressed graphics in a corrupted Japanese SMW ROM.

Criminy...
