Hi Fans! I would like to thank you for playing my hack. I know some of you cannot beat some of my levels but IT TAKES PRACTICE. I have Screenshots of Megabyte's and my own lost levels and you will see which is the best Rom Hack. Megabyte's NES version Insectduel's SNES version Lost hilly (Megabyte) Lost hilly (Insectduel with better palette and background. NOT LIKE THE UNMODIFIED VERSION) Megabyte's blue palette underground Insectduel's Palette Plus Background in the lost level. Lost dungeon (Unmodified) Lost dungeon (Modified) Megabyte's Lost level map screen (Stuck on one world) Insectduel's map screen (All levels Modified. Forcing players to complete the dungeon.) Well these are the images. But I have a question for all of you 1. Is my hack better than Megabyte's NES version? 2. Would you think about making your own levels and backgrounds for SNES if Hukka's editor supports SMAS? 3. Would you like to host this onto your website? (Must have the Author's name) The possiblity would look like this Hack Name: SMB3 The lost levels Author: Megabyte Console: NES Difficulty: Medium Release Date: Unknown? but i found it on Zophar.net Additional Info: Basically, you could play the 15 lost levels in the NES version. Hack Name: SMB3 The lost levels for Super Mario All-Stars Author: Insectduel and others Console: Super NES Difficulty: Expert (Like SMB1 The lost levels) Release Date: 7/28/05 Additional Info:Basically, a new levels hack. All levels edited (edited by insectduel on 08-19-05 03:48 PM) (edited by insectduel on 08-19-05 03:59 PM) (edited by insectduel on 08-22-05 02:16 PM) (edited by insectduel on 08-22-05 02:29 PM) (edited by insectduel on 08-22-05 02:30 PM) |

It's really not fair to compare NES to SNES, but his map is a little messed up in the screen. The sky in first screen is a little too light, though.

You should make a NES version of it... Then it would be fair to compare...

So you copied Megabyte's hack to All-Star's and now you want people to compare the two?

The only thing you've proven is that the snes has better graphics than the nes.

If Megabyte's version uses the original, unmodified level data, then it is better. I'm usually a purist when it comes to unused stuff--just change the pointers or whatever it takes to load the stuff, and leave it be (my lost bonus games patch for SMB3 being an exception because the original graphics, for the most part, no longer exist). I agree with everyone else, this isn't a fair comparison. It looks to me like you're just trying to inflate your ego (especially with that "is my hack better than Megabyte's NES version?" question). |

First, the black stars in the first SNES snapshot look bad. Second, I am, and always will be, a fan of the NES version. The SNES did a lot of things I didn't care for, like weaking the sound effects, and taking some of the little charms away from the NES version that made that version all the more special... point is, I'd rather play the NES version than the SNES version. Even if I could make a great Smb3 hack for All-Stars, I'd enjoy doing it with the NES version a lot more. |

I enjoy a map where I can pick and choose which level I can play, rather than being forced to play all of them.

Originally posted by macbee I can't do that. Otherwise I would be stealing some of Frank15's levels without credit. I found that out when I was reading my own SMB3 lost levels release for SMAS message board FINALLY THE OTHER TWO SNAPSHOTS ARE FIXED NOW SO YOU COULD LOOK AT THEM. By fabio Or better yet, make both of them SNES versions and then compare. > Do you guys have level editors. Lincolnsoft's M3i for the NES has lost levels while SNES don't. Hukka is currently working on SMAS on his windows editor. Note that the unmodified lost levels for the SNES has no backgrounds. Originally posted by Xkeeper It can be found here. I'm not sure if that's the latest version (I assume it would be though), but that's the only place I know of that has it As for the topic at hand, as other people have already said, it's not really "fair" to compare a NES and SNES game, but if I had to choose one I like more, it'd be yours, mainly because it has better graphics Megabyte still deserves the credit for making the original hack though |

Well, since the NES one has more screens labeled as "unmodified" then I will have to go with that. Cause then that means the other one is not truly the same lost levels.

I hope you like either of these hacks. I'll come up with the verdict next week before closing my own thread (If I know how to) |
