It's easy not to get the flu unless something bad happens like someone sneezes right in your face. Keep your hands away from your orifices as well. Oh, and remember kiddies, antibiotics have no affect on viruses.

Yeah, that's true.

Except when the virus is extremely small and can be spread via aerial transmission...Which is the fear with Avian Bird Flu.

Ziff: True but you also don't want the flu to claim an abnormally large amount of seniors either.

Basically, if you're in a good age bracket and have no health concerns, then tough out the flu for a few days/a week.

Meh.. I had to watch a video about TB being spread and mutated in prison systems all over the world. They give the prisoners limited medication, so not all of it is killed and a new strain forms. How do you control that? It's the same with AIDS in Africa.. could there be a mutation of AIDS in the future if a cure is found?

Danielle, AIDS can't mutate as it isn't a virus, it's the syndrome caused by a virus. As for HIV though, it mutates all the time.

Which is frightening. We don't need aerial transmitted HIV.

Oh right, durpie. But HIV can.. so... I'm sort of right?
If HIV mutates into an aerial virus, we're screwed.

I don't think they've shown ANY concern about that at all but the odds of it doing so... very very very tiny.

The odds of it continuing to spread in Africa... not so very tiny.

I heard about a second version of the Spanish flu a while ago. What happened to that? Was it just a rumour?

So it´s the bird flu that´s raging. I just hope that we won´t get it over hear. But it´s already in Russia so...

"What makes this an especially dangerous situation in the U.S. is that the Bush administration has largely chosen to redirect its public-health budget to preparations for "biowar" possibilities -- smallpox, Ebola Fever, and the like -- which may never endanger us."

Okay, here we have a flu that could turn into a pandemic and they put trhe money on THAT?
