Photobucket.com Imageshack.us Those two sites are great for image hosting! Also, you should read stickeys, because the stickeys talk about this situation. Anyways, It's nice to have some more Sonic hacks. There havn't been many at all. If you need any help with anything (Right tools to use etc.), contact me or Schwa, because he is very advanced in Sonic hacking. |

Hi, I do need help actually, List of things done 1: Edited pallete for green hill in Sonic2K 2: Edited pallete for metropolis in sonic 2/2K 3: Used sonEDII to chane Sky chase background to space 4: Added Tails in Sky chase,wing fortress and death egg in 2P mode Here is what I want to do, 1: Make super/hyper knuckles green in Sonic and knuckles,sonic 2K and 3K to match master emerald,as super sonic is gold to match rings but so far the only super character you can edit is supersonic in sonic 2. 2: Add knuckles to Sonic 1. 3: Add tails as 2nd player to knuckles in Sonic 2K Problems so far: 1: Cant edit much in sonic 2K using ESEII 2: Cant figure out how to toggle between foreground/background using ESEII 3: Cant get gencyst working and kgen save states dont work 4: SonEDII is near impossible to use I am not to good with hex, I have done some work with the debug menus for PS2 games Soul Reaver 2 and defiance. Number 1 is palette related, which should be possible. 2 and 3 are definatly ASM related. You would have to rip out the ASM for Knuckles from Sonic 3 and place it in Sonic 1 and try to make it all work out. As for the Tails one, it might be easier, as it's already data that should be in the ROM, but of course, it will take some ASM, or if the data is in fact stored in a 2K rom, you could prolly play around with a hex editor and get it to work. Now for your problems. 1. I havn't tried 2K yet sorry... 2. I'm not sure which version you're using, but I don't believe you need to switch between those (Unless your talking about enemys...) 3. Screw those emulators, use Gens+. Its alot better. 4. Dont use anything related to SonED. ESEII is just as good and does even more (Title Card, Bonus Stages). As you said, your not good with Hex, but I might look into that Tails thing for you... |

Hi, I am using Gens + to emulate,I was trying to use the others for the save state,super knuckles isnt listed in the pallete in any game,super sonic pallete is listed in the sonic 2 game only. The way I added tails in the other stages he was excluded from was by changing other objects into tails in the level editor and seing you cant edit levels in S2K I wouldnt know how. Knuckles in sonic 1 would be excellent, using ESEII is there a way of changing between foreground/background like SonED because as you said soned is crap |

ESE has the problem that it reshuffles alot of data in the ROM, while SonED2 forces you to split up your ROM into separate files. Calling SonED crap is a bit extreme... I personally use an older version of SonED.... |

*agrees with Kanji* And one warning for you, if your going to be level porting, DO NOT use ESE, do it through hex. Doing it with ESE can really screw up your hack. I tried porting Green Hill into Sonic 2 and all I got was just some incorrect level layouts and really odd collision. You have been warned. |

How to you port levels from different Roms? are they backwards compatible? Say putting a sonic 1 level into sonic 3? Can you port objects such as knuckles into sonic 1? Can both ESEII and sonED do it? The reason I am not so keen on sonED is soned only opens sonic 2 all the rest requires save states and I cant get gencyst to work,kgen save states just cause errors and as for sonEDII-I have no idea how to use. |

Using ESE, you can port Sonic 1 and S3K levels into Sonic 2. S3K levels port fine, but Sonic 1 levels require you to write a new collision index to support the sloped tiles. I reccomend manually porting levels though. Just rip the 8x8 tiles, 16x16 mappings and 128x128 mappings from a savestate and import them either manually or using SonED. Then correct the palette and etc. As for your constant buggering about Knuckles sprites... Use Tile Layer Pro. You'll find them in there. You have to manually assemble them, though. |
