First of all, this thread is for submit your own technique to rip graphics in order to help people who don't know how to do

here the one I know

1.Direct Ripping
What do you need: TLP or YY-chr(But TLP better for this one)
What It can rip:Mainly sprite and Exanimated tile,some BG and FG
How to do: Simply open the roms and the ExGFX with TLP and then find what you need and copy It to the ExGFX, This is the best way to rip the bonus aera BG from mario all-star

2.Snapshot BG Ripping
What do you need: Infranview,YY-chr (TLP not work for this)
What It can rip:BG (can also be used for overworld layer 2 tile)
How to do:First open the emulator and the game you want BG from,then disable all layer exept the BG one(most of time layer2) and save a snapshot in bitmap formatthen open it with Infraview and select decrease and select custom and Put 8 in the box then select resize/resample, Uncheck Preserve aspect ratio and set the new size to 128x128 pixel,save It then open YY-chr and open the file menu and select paste snapshot,Arrange the tile If needed,then Insert the ExGFX in lunar magic and here come the long part,start doing the map16 for the BG,Once Its complete do the pallette to make It fit the BG,then use change BG map16 page in the level menu and change it to the map16 page you are using,And Finally open the BG tile map editor(the grass icon)and the insert the tile by choosing a tile on the map16 and click or the BG editor window not on one of the tile and press insert to insert the tile and that all...

3.M16-7k
What do you need: PSP3.11(Make sure its 3.11 version)Infranview and Pics2snes
What It can rip:BG/FG(Pallete import seting don't work right when Importing FG)
How to do:Open Znes take snapshot of what you want,Arrange the tile in paint If needed, the open the pics with PSP3.11,save him as a pcx and change the version to 2,Then move the pcx in the same folder than pics2snes, open pics2snes enter the name of the pcx with .PCX(don't forget the capital)then save the .MAP file the .COL and the .SET than pics2snes ask you to save,then open LM open the 16x16 tile editor select the map16 page you want to import the file and press ctrl+alt+shift+F1+N+O+Insert in order and with holding them the select, then put the palette you have choose in pics2snes-1 in the import pallette # box and the 8x8 color remap then presse ok, and choose the .SET the.COL the.MAP that pics2snes have created and rearrange the tile if needed and that all...

If you know other technique you can explain It here, this may save many hour and headache to anyone as well to remove the problem newcommer have with ExGFX

there only one ripping tutorial and this the M16-7k but If your think this thread is useless a moderator can close it, anyway no one seem interested by it

note:you should add a pallete animation section in your extanded animation tutorial, I would like to know how it work

I didnt know how to Rip. Then in Lunar Magic i cant do All this Things (Hex etc.)

But how can you press ctrl+alt+shift+F1+N+O+Insert

look like this thread was just not as useless than I was thinking even if I should have post this in the question and answer sticky,for the bouton you can ask someone else or use your foot for the last bouton this is what I do there somehere a patch that change it to ctrl+insert, so if you not able to press the bouton you should ask for it

Parasyte made a patch a while back that changes M16-7k to be activated by Ctrl+Insert. Though then you can't use the Add Object/Sprite Manual command (unless it's on a menu, I forget ).

Also, you can just rip from screenshots if you disable various BG layers.

Bleh, ripping that way lacks a certain elegance. I prefer the good ol' savestate + Tile Molestor combo myself those rare instances where I'm actually ripping something. Of course, if the graphics are in different formats it would be sorta pointless to rip from a savestate (unless you actually know what you're doing, you could seriously mangle things up. And given that most of here in SMW Hacking aren't even close to real hackers, it's a pretty safe bet that things WOULD be mangled up). But if you CAN rip from the ROM or savestate, do it that way and save yourself a headache.

I don't know about savestate ripping, but ripping from the roms itself explained in my first post, Also I have no efficient way to rip FG, do someone know one?

I rip FGs via save states, it's the easiest way IMO. Just copy the save state into BG Mapper, set the palette, export it as a.bmp, cut the GFX you want, insert the .bmp into your ExGFX file with TLP, save, insert it into LM, set the palette for your GFX, save the level and you're done.
