When I installed PSCS8 it would show a thumbnail view of the file in windows when I looked at the file in a folder. The first time I saved an image using PS, it got rid of that thumbnail preview and replaced it with the default .psd icon. I need those previews for sorting my images. How do I get them back?

If this doesn't make sense, I can provide a screenshot if needed. Thanks for any help.

Aha! I thought I was the only one who had this problem. Though what I noticed was that suddenly I couldn't see any previews of Photoshop images, whereas the old Windows install which is never updated still sees them fine, even for images made with CS.

With my Windows 98 SE computer, that had PS7.0, it never showed previews of .psd's at all. My moms did (Win98) tho.

Now with XP, you have all images showing previews if you enable thumbnails. Except any PS documents. I think there are 3 PS documents that have stopped showing thumbnails:

.psd
.tiff
.pdd

They all (well, not sure about .pdd; never used it) showed thumbnails before.

One thing I just noticed. If I move the .psds to the desktop, it will show a thumbnail image, but not when they are in a folder.

I went thru the help file in PS to look for help, but couldn't find anything.

I don't know to much of PS, but I think the reason why your icon isn't showing because I think that photo shop needs to have a list of file asscociations.
For example if you want to work with JP2, TIFF and PNG you need to tell photo shop you want to work with those in PS, in the configuration of the program tell it you want those files to be added to a list of files you are currently working with in PS and then it should automatically update itself immediatley and show the icons that you want to show when you are currently working on and view from time to time to make sure nothing gets out of order.

If that info was correct or nearly correct, please say so.
The reason why I just gave you my input because Paint shop pro and Photo shop mimic each others feature back and fourth but some of them out do each other in tasks, some our perfect, and others are just complete hell....
