Who the fsck cares?

So I'm rated a 6.56. By that I'm what...average? Below average by some people who have rated me, usually the 0s out of dumbass stupidity?

Couldn't care...but then I personally think that the ratings should be made public so everyone, not just the admins, can see them. You can retract those votes all you want but that idea is much much better, in my opinion.

Now, I would see so many people flying off the handle to that suggestion, but you know, if I don't care...you know...I wouldn't care if people saw what I rated someone either. If you really want to rate someone, you'd let everyone know your opinions instead of having it closed off. The only reason that rating system is usually used anyways is either some attempt at encouragement and what friends do (rating 10) and when someone gets pissy and thinks that rating people a 0 will make a damn bit of difference (rating 0).

It's a psychological mechanism of the board that may make some of the e-penises here a bit hard for two seconds and that's it.

Elric: Your point isn't valid actually. When we took away the ACS that one time, there was a small dip in activity but then it was back up to normal levels. That's pretty much why it came back; because nothing changed for better or for worse.

That's pretty much what I'm getting at, Colleen. Spammers will spam, regardless of Post Radar or ACS. Removal of one or both of those won't make a noticable difference. Therefore, there's no real reason to remove either one.

Still, people care too much about their post count already... So I'd rather not have a feature on my board that gives post counts even more importance than they should have. (yeah, I removed it from mine)

It takes space in the top menu (as well as in profiles), and takes as much as 1 table in the database... So yeah, I see it as something hostile. :p

ONOZ! A few freakin' pixels! ONOZ! One freakin' table in the DB! HAX!

If you don't want it on your board, that's perfectly fine. But I don't see any need for it to be removed from the distro. It's an option that I like, and use.

Heh, you said there was no reason to get rid of it, I gave you a few.

And considering the board database has more and more tables as new versions appear, getting rid of one useless table IS a good thing. Same for the top menu, more and more stuff appear in it... and it's good to keep things as simple as possible.
But you somehow manage to get some enjoyment out of this feature, so whatever. However, you admitted you don't use it for the reason it's intended for.
If everyone uses that thing for shortcuts to profiles, then I think it'd be better to have something like a "friends" system instead.

Actually, the board was pretty dead because of that. The activity was only back up to "normal levels" after the last staff reconstruction.

And Stifu, no one cares about one more table in the db. If your space is THAT limited, you shouldn't have a board at all.
Besides, that feature was added by Acmlm. No one other than him should choose wheter or not it should be removed.

And yet, when I mentioned the idea of making the 'NEW' icons optional a good while back, people complained about the extra DB space it would use.

You're missing the point, I'm afraid. I'm not saying one table takes too much space or anything, but that it would be cleaner and more convenient to have one less useless table to worry about.
Either that, or change this feature to adapt it better to the way people are using it.

Useless table? But the board OWNER wants it like that.
Therefore, it's not useless.
