My friend recently showed me a very old laptop of his that he says stopped working. It IS very old (Pentium 200 MMX, I think, with 32 MB RAM) but he can't afford to buy a new one yet. I booted it up and it told me "Hard drive not found. If no operating system found, press F1 to resume." or something like that. The hard drive, in fact, is in the HD slot on the side of the laptop. It then dumps us to a black screen saying something about an error in a controller (might have been PCI, but I can't remember) and that an IRQ was not configured. He called tech support and they said he had to "reinstall the hard drive". What would be done to do that? |
