Well, I was looking at the Newbie thread and people always tell the newbies, "Don't Spam!" This is a good thing to do, but the word 'spam' can have a different meaning to every person. Some may think its that meat-like substance that comes in a can, others may think its posting one-word sentencse.

This is why I proprose we have a general definition of the word 'spam' sticked in the Newbie Fourm. It could cover that spam wasn't just posting useless things, but also advertising stuff.

Anyone think this is a good idea?

Good idea Snika. No matter how many times I tell n00bs to read the FAQ or click on the second link of my signature, they still don't listen and start to spam. Only problem about your idea, not many n00bs read the stickies either.

Obviously you never read the FAQ, because it's there. Right here, to be exact.
I'll even show you.

Spam is making:

- A post that is off-topic, meaning that it has nothing to do with the original thread.
- A post that is only a few words long and doesn't contribute anything meaningful to the discussion.
- A thread that doesn't have any real meaning.
- A thread with a poll that is pointless.
- A thread that is an exact duplicate of a pre-existing, recent thread.

Newbies Forums is just spam.
Like, it's all about "hey i'm new". That's ok, but the replies are just....spam:
"hey read the faq lol"
"hey dont spam"
"captures newbie. #3840934343434"
"read the faq lol"
Seriously, they should just make a sticky in general chat or something.

Just my $0.02.

Knuck, what I meant was that the sticky would hopefully help stop newbies from spamming in other areas.

Danielle, the 'Definition of Spam' sticky in the Newbie Forum would help emphasize those things you said were listed in the FAQ.

Why whats the point when there are 1,000+ links to the FAQ?

The spam question in the FAQ is just like one out of a billion questions. Hard to see, no? I just think it would be good if we sticked that rule, as it is one of the most important. Hey, it may help!

Hard to see? Then having a FAQ is pointless you think, if everything is hard to see?
Dude, it's listed there, newbies are supposed to read that, not to mention stickies in the newbie forum that are also a guide.

Snika, if a user signs up to the board, it is said in the FAQ that they agree to all the rules in the FAQ. If they don't bother looking, we don't want them here. I also had a copy of my BOARD FAQ thread there, but I don't happen to know where it went. I think I'll go search for it.

Yeah, I guess you guys have a point. This board does clarify 'spam' better than other boards that have no FAQ whatsoever. Some boards have serious problems because of that. Ok, so... I guess this thread can be locked then.
