Since this is one of my favorate GB games, I thought why not recreate the whole game in a SNES version with color.(not Super GB colors....yuck)

These screenshots are just betas on how I'm going to constuct this hack:









It would be really helpful if a good hacker could show me how to add the bunny ears to Mario when he collects the carrot (simular to the racoon Mario hacks without the tail). Since there's no possible way to have the same freedom to visit any world like the original (because people would go right to the last boss,ignoring collecting the 6 golden coins), I will link all the the levels together like in SMW.

Let the ideas (and coments) begin !!!

Not bad but it lacks the same feeling 6GC had. I think it would be MUCH better if you revamped the original graphics from that game. A glorified version of a black and white game deserves kudos. Otherwise, it's just another crappy All-star hack.

What the hell is this? Link, I'm making a SML2 remake, and I made that perfectly clear in another thread. Don't try to compete with me, because you'll definitely lose. You can't win, I'm obviously going to make it better than yours. Whoa whoa wait a minute! You're also using my GFX hack to make it? OMG WTF? This a disgrace! I strongly advise you cancel it now!

You know, you haven't got copyright on remaking games in SMW. If he wants to do it, he should.

Also, your screenshots shows nothing but SMAS graphics. These shots have actually got some colorized SML2 blocks. If I had to choose between those, I'd pick the latter one.

It's possible to make a block only passable if six levels have been beaten. (These six levels would be the boss levels.)

It looks nice, but yeah . . . just doesn't feel like 6 Golden Coins - you're going to put each zone in it, right? And if you're trying to remake the levels, you might have problems. The gears in Mario Zone might be a bit hard, you can make them act like conveyors, but it would still be kinda tough. I dunno . . keep working on it, but I doubt it will be as good as the original

I don't mind if it's the hack is not like the original SML2 in every way, I'll still play it. One question though, the bell is going to be the checkpoint like in the original game, right?

It seems pretty good to me, but like the others it still doesn't seem like SML2.
I think it's the status bar. If you can make it lower, it would seem like SML2 more.

Make sure to insert an ASM hack, which in Space Zone the gravity changes.

Fine then, just do it. The thing that really pushed me into saying that, is that you didn't even credit me for you using my GFX hack. Honestly like, that hack was no joke to make, and you didn't even mention my name.

Well I didn't read or know that you were going to make a SML2 remake. I already have made too many levels to stop. Instead, why don't you make a SML 1 remake while I take care of SML 2 since i'm already deep in this. We could really use that hack with updated graphics and such,too. No need for competition.These were great games on the GB, and they deserve to be recreated with todays SNES Mario hack remakes.

Smallhacker:

It can never be as good as the orginal with all the things I'll have to subsitute for; the hippo bubble, the space zone, the unique bosses, the bonus rounds, bunny Mario, and the unique enemies SMW dosen't have, ants, frogs, the little vampire in the pumpkin zone, the pigs in the Mario Zone. All that alone is hell of ASM hacking (something I have NO idea/time of learning), But despite all of that, I'm going to try my hardest to complete this.

EDIT: I'm was still going to give you credit for your graphics peter. I'm giving credit to all the people that helps me in my hacks.

Well, if you put a lot of time into it, and really dedicate yourself to finish it, it might actually be pretty good - Ill try it if you release a demo soon - I really liked your other one - I believe it was the super mario sunshine demo - so I'll give this a go.

This block will be solid until the 6 given levels are beaten... Unless I screwed up somehow...

Copy and paste it into a hex editor after replacing the ..s with the 6 level numbers.

(Note that the level numbers should be the number of the level you enter from the overworld. Also, if the number is larger than $24, you have to subtract $DC from it)

When you add the block to Block Tool, set the reloc offset to -1 and the rest of the offsets to 0. The "Make this block act like" setting in LM should be set to 25.

Nah... that would take away the cool color feel out.


Other than that, the SS's look great... keep the BGs, replace the FG with the tilesets from the actual game for each zone and the levels... just a sugesstion...

About the floors...

I'm sure know one noticed this. So, I'll be the first to point it out. From looking at the first screen. The bottom floor tiles (dark and lightgreen squares) are placed correctly -- third screen doesn't display the tiles correctly like they do on the first screen.

I'm guessing it's some X/Y problem there. You should fix that...

Hmm, Super Mario Land 2 graphics. Maybe one of these days when I have some spare time between projects I'll port some sets over like I did for those Wario sets.
