Firstly, I'd never want to live there. Too much negative activity seems to go on there (September 11 is an example) Secondly, I've never actually been there but I'd like to visit some time (Living is different to visiting). Thirdly from what I have heard, New York is just a really busy city, nothing major but I think i'd want to prove that for myself. I've only been to America once, unfortunately I didn't get time to visit New York. Maybe Next Time Overall, I dont see New York as being any better or worse than any other major city like Sydney or Canberra. |

OMFG I was there for a few days. It was kinda cool... but.. if I wanted to live in a city, I'd go to San Francisco. However, I don't want to live in a city. |

Regarding stars in new york, it's true... You don't see as many as in other places, I don't know if it's the pollution, but you only see stars if you stare at the sky during the night, then they'll appear...

So they magically appear for people who Look in the sky? I'd say its the lights. USA is so lit up that u can't tell stars from simple lights. That's what I think anyway. |

Can natural light light up your room at night? Can it make you feel warm and comfy at night NO. Are you looking at human made light right now YES Human made light is better than natural light. (edited by LostAuzzie on 04-13-04 08:14 AM) |

Keyword "Night" The only exception to the rule I can think of is Uranium, it's got a natural glow so it counts as natural light. Enough of it could light up a whole room. It would also kill anything in the room but that doesn't matter right now |

I never wen't to New York City, but I wouldn't mind going sometime. I don't really think much of it though, it's just a city. Alot of people I know go to New York when they go to the United States, but I would probably go to Los Langeles or somewhere around there. I did go to the State of New York a few years ago, but I don't really remember much of it. |

What do you think about New York? "New York, New York, it's a hell of a town: The Bronx is up and the Battery's down!" Ahem. Great place. My girlfriend wants to live there someday. I could see myself there too, if the opportunity arises. We go there every winter on the $40 roundtrip Philly-NYC bus. |

I live about 20 minutes from the city. I'm rarely there unless it's for a Yankee game or the odd Broadway show. It's exciting and overwhelming to visit, but I doubt I'd live there: as I hear, it's hideously expensive.

New york is probably the most well-known US city. Especially after the airplanes crashed in the world trade center towers... I would like to be there someday, but I rather would meet someone who I know online. |

Hehe.. it seems you guys have a slighty altered veiw of New York. We see stars, you just can't be near too many lights. When there are too many lights close to the ground.. it makes it difficult to see the stars. Not every block in New York City is crime infested and horrible. Like all other cities, there are bad parts and good parts. I would say NYC is a bit overrated though. Most of NYC seems dirty and old.. and it's very polluted. Often there are smells of piss on the subway.. ((Underground train)).. and public transportation shouldn't be taken at night if you are alone. My boyfriend learned that one the hard way. All in all it's not the safest place in the world.. but if you're street smart and stuff.. you'll be fine. I go to school there everyday.. I live in Staten Island, which is still a part of NYC.. but it's not Manhattan. Staten Island is very different than Manhattan.. no tall buildings and lotsa trees.. it's mostly overpriced small houses and suburban/urban neighborhoods. Oh and it's filled with stuck up assholes.. don't ever come here. The people in Manhattan are a hell of alot cooler to be around. |
