Not a big fan of many NY sports teams, no.

I was only in NYC once (Grade 9) and didn't mind the place aside from the bums yelling stuff at our group. I do like the state of NY though. Especially the Adirondacks.

My cousin and his girlfriend are moving there soon, so I think I'm going to stay with them for a week (they have an extra room for me ).

I think that that will be pretty fun, as his girlfriend is pretty groovey and will be able to introduce me to the primary American socialists (I already have met the leader of the NDP party, Federally and Ontario, I also volunteer regularly for Sid Ryan, my local should've been MPP).

Like all other cities, there are bad parts and good parts.

I would say NYC is a bit overrated though. Most of NYC seems dirty and old.. and it's very polluted. Often there are smells of piss on the subway.. ((Underground train)).. and public transportation shouldn't be taken at night if you are alone. My boyfriend learned that one the hard way.

All in all it's not the safest place in the world.. but if you're street smart and stuff.. you'll be fine. I go to school there everyday.. I live in Staten Island, which is still a part of NYC.. but it's not Manhattan. Staten Island is very different than Manhattan.. no tall buildings and lotsa trees.. it's mostly overpriced small houses and suburban/urban neighborhoods. Oh and it's filled with stuck up assholes.. don't ever come here. The people in Manhattan are a hell of alot cooler to be around.

Well I lived in the suburbs and I didn't see many stars when I looked up... In france however, you can see a lot of stars (and remember, Paris's other name is the Light City, in french anyways), I'm not too sure it's related to the amount of light...

As for safety, Manhattan is pretty safe, I went to school in the city for 2 and a half years, and my train dropped me off at 125th street, in Harlem, and besides the bad reputation, I never had any trouble... Once I got into a verbal fight with a guy, lots of "fuck" and "shit" flying around, but only intimidation... People know that if something violent happens you have 3 minutes to run the hell out of there before the cops come. There's cops everywhere, and it's probably the only place where I felt safe enough to have a discman in my pockets, or a 20 dollar bill... You don't do that in France unless you're 6 feet tall and strong enough to fight for your life!

Eh never been to New York. I want to one day just to see how it is. First I want to go to LA and compare it to New York. Since LA's closer and I might be going this summer . I'll go to New York City when..I'm older.

I just have this vision of New York being dirty and all cooped up in a little area with huge buildings and bums everywhere . Not the nicest people too. I think it might be different and has it's good sides. When I went to San Fransisco I expected there to be less smells and not too many bums. On that field trip some girl got touched on the street by some type of bum guy. But hey, fisherman's warf made up for it . Well the smells and the bums. Other than that, I haven't been too many places..or barely out of this state for that matter.

YANKEES!!!YANKEES!!!YANKEES!!!YANKEES!!!YANKEES!!!YANKEES!!!

I love the Yankees, can't you tell. I don't live in NY, but I really wouldn't mind it.

Boston is the place I'd hate. It's a slum, and too much negativity.

You take that back!

As for Boston being a slum, not really. No more than NYC, at least.

If there weren't that certain aformentioned organization, it's an interesting place.

Not somewhere I'd want to live, but still interesting

I've been to NYC before, i thought it was awesome. I only stayed in Manhatten so i don't really know much about the other areas of NYC but Man was awesome. I did notice a lot of people trying to steal from people. It's amazing how simple and obvious these theives are with their tactics for theft, I could see right through them. I guess the way to avoid all that stuff is to be a little bit of an asshole, not holding doors open for people and stuff like that, but that's true in most cities. I'd live there except for the fact that i don't think i could survive driving in NYC cause those drivers are crazy. The only other problem i have with NYC is the yankees, but i don't really like baseball so it's not too big.

"but I would probably go to Los Langeles or somewhere around there."

"First I want to go to LA"

What is with people thinking Los Angeles is a place worth visiting? Seriously... it's hell. Absolute hell.

As far as California goes, San Diego and San Fransisco is where it's at.

Also: LostAuzzie. I like how you call Canberra a "major city". That makes me laugh. We in Australia have such warped ideas about urban areas and distance and population density.

Never been myself, but I would love to go to catch a few plays and musicals.

A lot of people say that Florida is a lot like New York. New York of the South, some say. Mainly because a lot of people from that state tend to move down here for some reason.
