Sounds like something with the monitor going bad...video cards are just buffers for monitors to read from to figure out what to draw. But bad video ram implies that you'd always have that line regardless of what monitor you were on. So, probably your monitor is starting to wear down... | |||

See if degausing makes the line go away. I can't say for certain, but if it is a problem with your monitor, degausing might have the same effect as changing the res. If the problem goes away like changing the res, you know the problem is with your monitor. I have seen this problem happen with LCDs as well, just a one pixel line in the middle of the screen. Had to get that one fixed. |

My old computer does this, and the monitor works fine. Lines appear, and eventually parts of the screen will appear in other places, stretched way out (like each pixel 20 pixels apart). | |||

It's hard to speculate, but it can be a video card problem or a monitor problem. It could be a driver conflict (running unpatched WinXP with drivers that need WinXP SP1 or SP2). Update Windows, then update your drivers from the nVidia website. See if that helps. |
