I have the net set up to work on my laptop, it works fine. I have another laptop, plug the cable modem in, and it says "Renewing IP Adress" for a while, then a box at the bottom says "Limited or No Connectivity." Any ideas on how to fix this?

Is the first laptop the machine that is normally/always plugged into the cable modem? Or do other machines hook up to it (and work) as well?

This may not be your problem, but it was the first thing that came to mind. Do you plug the computers directly into the modem? I know some ISPs record the MAC address of whatever device the cable modem is first plugged into, and may only let you swap devices a limited number of times (or not at all) without giving them a call. Routers have a feature that masks their real MAC address for this very reason. You may want to check and see if the other computer has such an option, and if so, set it to report the same MAC address as the first machine.

For more detailed info, try Googling "clone MAC address." You should get a wealth of relevant links.

Oh, it is. What you just said is _exactally_ what is going on. Hence why I asked the question I did.
