first of all... relax man lol. You'll learn pretty quick that the people on this board will eat you alive if you use all capital letters and a million extra punctuation marks (ie. !!!!!!!!!?????????????). They will answer your question, but also take the opportunity to insult you lol XD. Now to your question...

Be a little more specific... what pokemon game are you hacking? What programs are you using? (ie. elitemap, advancedmap). Do you have a question on how to use the programs to get to the maps... or are you asking for the programs themselves? I'll just assume that you need to get some programs... so try these sites...

www.pokedrome.info/

http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66

next, you need to get a rom to edit (r/b/y, g/s/c, r/s/e, fr/lg). The advance games seem to be a bit more difficult to edit in a lot of people's opinions (i dunno... only fiddled w/ advanced gen), so you might want to start out with an older rom. DON'T ask for roms... (most people get really ticked if you do lol), you will have to google that one yourself.

As far as what to download, I definitely recommend elitemap. Stick the rom in the same folder as elitemap.. then open elite map and open the rom (you use the little bluish square near the top left). You use the two drop down boxes at the top to find the map (you'll have to fiddle around with it to find them). Once you get an outside map on the screen, you can also use the little arrows at the sides and top of the map to move along the routes and towns.

All of those weird little jumbles of things in the top left are called tiles... all of the maps are made with them. You can use ctrl+click to edit the tile (kind of seems like hit and miss), just realize that when you change a tile (say the main grass tile) that you edit that tile for ALL of the maps on the game, so if you want to play around with that, try it on one of the black spaces that don't seem to be used for anything. You can use shift+click to 'pick up' a tile in the map.

Also, near the top you see these options: map, header, objects, patches. Map lets you look at and edit the map (duh!). Header lets you chose between which existing labels you want to use (the little box in the top left that comes up when you enter a new area- ie route 101). It also lets you edit the weather conditions (friggin awesome), the type of area the map is (town, cave, route, etc), the song that is played (you can only chose between existing songs... you need a special program to try to import songs that isn't availible to everyone and you'd have to know how to hex edit-- to put it simply it's probably not happening... sigh). Objects lets you edit the labels that exist (to make them say whatever you want), change the connections (how the map connects from one to the next... you know.. so you can walk into a new map), edit the people in a map (their sprites, behavior, whether they are a trainer or not, etc.), edit the exits (doors, cave intrances, etc and where they lead to... haven't quite figured out how to change where they go to though...), traps (like when the kid stops you in the first town of R/S/E if you don't have a pokemon yet... basically some event that happens when you try to move past those points), and edit the signs (don't know how to do that either).

When you want to save, click on the floppy disc near the top. NOTE: you will edit the rom for good.. and if you messed something up... your stuck with it. What you might want to do is have a few copies of the rom, so that if you add something new that screws everything up.. you don't have to start your hack from scratch.

There also is a cool feature up near the top where you can copy either the level or tileset in a bmp format (you could paste it in paint). What I don't know.. is if there is a way to import it back (which would be awesome and make my life easier). If anyone knows how to do this... please fill me in!

That's about all I know about it, if anyone has anything to add please do. (there is an elitemap faq sticky... but I kinda wanted to make a little guide that newbies could understand easily)
