I have the latest version of Lunar Magic that was released long ago, and it works good. Anyway, I've been getting some sort of problem these past few weeks. I extract the GFX files and ExGFX files on a blank ROM to get the folders listed and stuff, but once the ExGFX Extraction button is clicked, instead of saying "There is no ExGFX files currently present." or something like that, it DOES an extraction, and it keeps going up to ExGFX200, then freezes up (the program, not the computer). This only happens when I start on a fresh clean SMW ROM. Has anyone else gotten this similar problem, or am I the only one that this happened to? (edited by Forte.EXE on 08-07-05 09:59 PM) |

Are you sure that your ROM is 512 MB (IIRC)?

Yes it is. It's the US ROM. It happens every time I try and do a new hack with a fresh one aside from my Millennium Project hack.

Instead of doing that (weird bug, BTW ), why not just create the folders in Explorer? It's much easier.

I once did that to "avoid the glitch" when I was in one of those "ppl tick me off" kinda moods, but when I inserted ExGFX files that I download from the ExGFX Workshop, and insert them, same problem, only it inserts ExGFX from the starting point up to FFF, that somewhat freezes, which also raises the memory usage up to the point that the computer almost runs out physical memory and slows down on me. This only happens with the clean SMW ROMs, but not my "other" hacks... So far, the only "cure" I found of it was using the IPS file of Demo World or Demo World 3 (the one with the custom music) since it has custom blocks... then it works like nothing ever happen. Same with any other IPS file hacks with custom blocks. |

*plays around with LM a bit, then shrugs* I get the "no ExGFX" message every time. Unless you can give a specific sequence of steps to duplicate it, or your fresh ROM isn't really fresh, I'd say it's probably just your computer. |

Have you tried redownloading a new copy of SMW? If you would like a link (I can say that right?) just PM me. Perhaps the ROM you are using was edited in the past and slightly corrupted. Also, does the game work fine in an emulator? |

Nah. But Kei, the ROM (the clean one for an upcoming hack that may never get under way) works fine in the emulator. Like BMF says, its a weird bug that happens to me. I even virus scanned it for anything abnormal, which in terms nothing bad comes up in the scan report. Fu, maybe its something that the computer is doing, or god hates me. But I don't believe it, since I have to restart my computer once that glitch happens in the Lunar Magic Editor... |

Fu, maybe its something that the computer is doing, or god hates me. But I don't believe it, since I have to restart my computer once that glitch happens in the Lunar Magic Editor... I don't see how having to restart your computer would lead you to believe that your computer isn't unstable... But if you really think it's LM and not your computer or ROM, describing how to do it well enough for someone else to get the same result on their computer is the first step to getting it resolved. Otherwise, there's nothing I can do. |

Well, let's see now: First, all I did was grab a clean ROM, then I extract the GFX files, also clicking on ExGFX Extraction button to get the folder listen in the designated folder it's in. Usually by now, the LM editor would be doing the weird bug I stumbled upon, then freeze up.... but now it's no longer doing it... I dunno Fu... it works perfect now... but during the past few weeks, it's been giving me heck... ::Begins thinking:: I think I know how that bug happened... I think when I extracted the regular GFX first then insert it. It works like regular, then I clicked the ExGFX buttons, and thats when the thing "magically" began inserting ExGFX files. You know the rest from the past posts, around the 200 mark or so, it freezes, sometimes forcing me to restart because of "Not enough Vitural Memory"... ::Heavy sigh:: Incase you've been wondering, this all started when I decided to do a continuation on my Super Mario Universe hack called, "Super Mario Universe - The Millennium Project". I've been going on long enough now, I'm just gonna forget about this bug, hopefully it has[i/] gone away. This can be closed by a moderator if anyone wants to. |
