Whipping bunnies and smashing eggs? Sounds more like a gang of high teenagers on Halloween.

Still doesn't make it right. Sure Easter is about Jesus dying for us on the cross, people still remember that, The easter bunny is something for the kids and the church has no right to take it away from them. Would this demonstration have been explained before people went to it? If it wasn't it should have been and if it was then the parents should not have taken there children to such a performance. |

Isn't it obvious, the church was practicing their top-secret dominatrix-like ways.

Honestly, trying to remove the candy and fun stuff from Easter is futile. My own view is that we believers know what the day is really for, and little harm is done when nonbelievers have their own celebration in whatever form they wish. That's not to say that "candy and fun stuff" cannot fit somewhere in a Christian's observance of the holiday. I've received a basket full o' sweets since my first Easter - never before we return from mass, however. Edit for clarity. (edited by Silvershield on 04-12-04 09:18 PM) |

I reckon it's stupid how the church/religion is trying to worm its way into social events such as youth groups... i attend a catholic school (am not religious myself but am their for the good education) nearly every meeting you will get information on a youth group that you can attend in the holidays... for one example i attended a youth group a couple of years, it was a rock concert thing... sounds cool hey, would you rather hear rocks songs or ... Jesus rock songs? Who hear wants to listen to a rock song about Jesus... no-one (unless your a heaps religious teen, which is very rare now) And like someone mentioned here, easter for kids is about chocolete and the easter bunny... you can't just go around saying the easter bunny is fake and that we celebrate easter because jesus died for us... especally the little kids and teens of our generation were we think Jesus is "not cool"... you can't make Jesus cool |

To make things worse, the religious kids are given way too much freedom when it comes to saying inflammatory things. I wear a shirt that says 'Satan Rules', I get in trouble. Religious kid wears 'All other faiths aren't faithful' with a nice big crucifix on it...Who do you think gets away with it? |

But their showing religion in a wrong way to us... me for one does not want to listen to Jesus rock songs... and yes their are teens out their that love Jesus, but only a few... the rest go because some youth groups are free and they might be going for the first time with mates.

I'm not supporting this or anything, but people in general dont tend to take to Satan well. As for the "all other faiths aren't faithful" stuff, that's taking a good thing too far. From my experience, people who take the super cruel agressive approach usually end of making people angry, and wind up turning them away from God in the long run, which I find quite sad. As the bible says: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". |

Well i know for a fact that i will never be a satan worshiper, and i am not a strong believer of god. I'm not sure if i got my point around though But its peoples choises into what they want to do and who they are going to believe, and i find religion is very controlling |

If you want to know the truth, I don't think there's anything essentially wrong with what they've done. This seems to be an art form geared towards a religous purpose, and there's nothing wrong with that. The presense of such young children at the event, of course, is what adds the controvertial nature to the issue. This article fails to say how much notice the viewers were given of exactly what they were set to see. Beyond that, though, it's a question of how much of a filter the parents want to put on the young minds of their chilren (or their own "adult" minds). The bottom line comes under a hint of the obvious. The play was put off by a church, and it was about Easter. You should be fairly aware of what that hints. As far as the church is concerned, Easter is about the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. I personally wouldn't expect them to gimp out on their own personal views for the sake of the children. Other than that, I don't think I can get enough from this article to say much more. (edited by Felix on 04-12-04 10:50 PM) |

It sounded like a good idea at the time... The idea might be imaginative but like Felix said, if the kids didn't know what they were going to see... not a smart idea. Should have thought it through a bit more. |

Heh..my history teacher told us about it today. He thought it was funny..lol. I did for a moment. The kids didn't expect it. I wasn't even quite sure what Easter was for. At least now my memory was refreshed. So much for not going to church Easter Sunday..I've only went on one Easter sunday and haven't been to church since 6th grade. I believe and stuff but family had it's difficulties. The whole beating the Easter bunny thing sounded like some thing that was just spur of the moment and didn't have much thought put into what they were doing. |
