Oh no Civilization II is only on fourth place. It should been on first place.

I could agree with SMB being the best game ever, as it's probably one of thoose games that most people have played too.

Seriously though, the list has some major problems.

And it's IGN. They're about as smart as Adrienne Clarkson when she took her circum-polar "government" trip.

True Ziff, any ass could write up a better list.

Seriously, how did they even go about making this? Where there any polls or ...?

Here's how they put the games on the list. The following information was originally from this site.

http://microsites.ign.com/kfc/top99games/index.html

All games had to receive at least 100 reader ratings.
This list is comprised of single, stand-alone titles and doesn't include compilations, expansion packs or add-ons.
Titles with multiple editions such as collector's boxes, gold editions or re-releases have been consolidated into one single entry.
Only games that have been released are eligible (this is for all you punks who think the upcoming GameCube Legend of Zelda is a perfect "10" already).
Games released anywhere in the world (that means Japanese-only releases) qualify for the list.
Multiple platforms for winners are listed if the games are essentially the same. However, if a game on multiple platforms shares a name but is different enough in design or gameplay, it has not been included in the "Platforms:" field.

Seeing as Cube's a friend of mine, I'll field this.

1. Well when it's something as dull as an RPG, where the only saving grace is the same entertainment you get from a bad movie, when the plot isn't even readable it kinda detracts from the point. Also, good job making yourself look like an idiot by using noob-speak as an actual argument.

2. They sucked. Actually, they still do.

3. Well, there are a few RPGs that aren't that repetitive and offer quite a bit of variation in what you can do (Paper Mario, anyone?), in general I would totally agree. And that, my friend, is why RPGs suck.

4. I'm glad.

5. I'm seeing it was a moronic argument, what else?

6. Because it's just so goddamned ridiculous.

7. No.

8. Once again, I'm glad.

So because I can't stand the tedious and Nintendo happens to have made an RPG series I rather enjoy, I'm a Nintendo fanboy? Don't forget I also rather liked Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 8... I think the problem lies less with me being a Nintendo fanboy and more with you getting pitifully defensive when someone says something bad about something you like. It's the fucking internet. Get over it.

Actually, it appears to be more you saying something good about something knuck dislikes. A small difference, perhaps...

As for the list, meh. I've seen worse. The problem with a Top # list of video games is that there's probably not gonna be a single person in the world other than the one who made the list that'll completely agree with it. So personally, I find the idea rather pointless - as I also find arguing about such a list to be pointless.

It's not just the single post. You do things like this quite a bit, from what I can tell.

And I never said I particularly liked Smash Bros Melee. Really, I don't. I much prefer the original to primarily broken game that is melee. I just think it should have placed better than any RPG. And even if I did like Melee, and even if your comments weren't insipid, that can't make me a Nintendo fanboy, because gasp... It wasn't developed by Nintendo. HAL Laboratory did it, it was only published by Nintendo.

Yes, but at the same time you shouldn't provide material for him to keep the flames burning. So I'd suggest that both of you agree to disagree and keep the topic on track. OK?

I think Ashley would be highly insulted at the absence of both The Guardian Legend and Color A Dinosaur from the list.

... ?

You made it sound like you worshipped SSBM in the Best Game Voting threads, in the past.

Speaking of Gaurdian Legend, that made me go back and check over this list and reminded me of 3 things:

1. Where is Blaster Master?
2. I still need to play / get System Shock 2.
3. IGN's advertisements suck ass.

Really, it was generally that what it was matched up against was a far worse game, and after my most favored games were eliminated close to the start... Yeah, it was the one I was rooting for. (Meanwhile, I just don't understand Mario 3 beating it. Actually, I've written up this rant before and don't feel like doing it again. Check, like, older posts of mine probably in the Mario forum for my thoughts on Mario 3.)

Here's a good example on why Kyouji Craw says about SMB3.

http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=16768&page=0

If you want to just check his posts from his profile look at post 6994 for a good reason why Kyouji Craw doesn't like SMB3.

I think it's a lot easier to make a top 100 for each system than a top 100 overall... but even THEN if I ever did one, I'd probably have them in no particular order. So hard to choose and justify why you put one game at #54 instead of #55.
