Primeape's great, though. Yoro probably just didn't use it well.

I'm posting from vacation yay!

Eh its not that she didnt use it well. It's that I clearly decided to be an asshole and use "Explosion" when she tried to anti-Foretress me

Did you use Protect with the other pokemon, Kei? It´s a rather cheap technique but it´s pretty effective.

And I have Primeape in my team in FireRed.

Protect only works for one turn. if used in sucession it would eventualy fail and I would OHKO it with Cross-Chop + king's rock..

No, I´ve seen protect work for 2-3 turns. At least 2 turns.

I don´t really like protect.

It CAN work that long...but it has a much higher tendancy to fail if used in great succession like that. It isn't definate though but it's there. I don't get the point of protect, anyway. It's like you're only prolonging the inevitable

Indeed, and that´s why I don´t use it.

And it´s damn annoying when the AI uses it.

I finally managed catch Grey and I remembered to pester him about the tournament.

Rale9891 (12:40:17 AM): now, how do you use Netbattle?
Kirbynite (12:40:24 AM): *falls over*
Rale9891 (12:40:31 AM): what
Kirbynite (12:40:32 AM): ALl this time, you haven't even tried it out?
Rale9891 (12:40:33 AM): no
Rale9891 (12:40:35 AM):

I realized that I was going to be doing practice matches

Rale9891 (12:42:24 AM): 6
Rale9891 (12:42:25 AM): 5
Rale9891 (12:42:26 AM): 4
Rale9891 (12:42:26 AM): 3
Kirbynite (12:42:27 AM): ....
Rale9891 (12:42:28 AM): 2
Rale9891 (12:42:29 AM): 1
Rale9891 (12:42:32 AM): ok I have it
Kirbynite (12:42:33 AM): You didn't even have it downloaded!
Rale9891 (12:42:35 AM):

And then I realized I was gonna have to wait a long arse time before he'd have a team setup ;

Practically encyclopedic knowledge of Pokémon's battle system to the rescue

King's Rock gives a 10% chance of flinch rate. It doesn't increase power or anything, so... What?

The chance of success halves with each subsequent use until it fails. And it really has a multitude of uses; protect to stall until the enemy faints from a status effect while staying safe, protect every other turn keep a Slaking from doing anything, protect for a turn to find out what the enemy plans to do and move accordingly, etc.

After several rounds of me obliterating Grey in practice matches, we finally had an official match. He gave me a good deal of trouble, but I won in the end ;

Clockworkz has shown activity but RYjet has not, so, Clockworkz wins by default.

Luigi-San has shown activity while cpubasic even told me he may have to drop out, so Luigi-San wins by default.

The second round begins noon today, September 17th, and ends two weeks later, on noon saturday, October 1st, or when both matches are over. Times are EST, which means that the round began a short while ago, actually.

Here are the brackets for this round:
1. Luigi-San VS Keitaro
2. Kyouji Craw VS Clockworkz

Kirbynite and Hiryuu both recieve byes and will not battle this round in order to preserve a full bracket for the semifinals.

Additionally, matches in this round and on are best two of three battle format.

The thread topic will need to be edited accordingly...

Hmm, Maybe I´d get it for more pokemon than I already have it on. It doesn´t work against Perish Song, right?

That's right. It fails against full-trapping moves, too.

Like an edit but not: I beat Clocky.

I forfeited. After a combination of practicing against Keitaro and getting OHKO's from Cross Chops and Brick Breaks from Kei's Hariyama, then Craw's ridiculously powerful Medicham, I lost my sanity temporarily, and just quit =_=

Go figure I join the board just after a Pokemon tournament started. I'd own you all with my crazy UU team!!!11

Well, probably not, if only because its a UU team. I tried making an OU one, but then realized that it was very boring and all my pokemon were predictable, so I went back to UU.

Electrode (running Taunt for those pesky Umbreons. Also, I got a few points in speed too many, just to outspeed those Ninjasks who think 1 point more than Jolteon is enough)
Gligar (Physical tank. Subsitute on their switch. Running a salac with swords dance)
Kangaskhan (I sometimes make this thing my starter instead of Electrode. Physical Sweeper, but it can take a few hits. Sometimes throw on Rest, for Early Bird)
Hypno (Special Tank. Thunder Wave 'em, and Seismic Toss away. Barrier can make him near immune to almost all attacks, or he can use Counter. Wish is now an option, too, thanks to the goddamn New York Pokemon Center)
Vileplume (Sunny Day, put 'em to sleep, Solarbeam away. HP Fire gets a boost from the sun as well, and can hurt those pesky grass types, as well as Skarmory)
Sableye (My favorite pokemon, so I have to use him. Switch to him when predicting a reversal or flail, as he is immune to both. Fake Out for the kill. Uses Seismic Toss for damaging otherwise. Knock Off just to be annoying, and Recover for obvious reasons. EVs in defenses.)
