| Once I'm within a comfort zone (ie, work, forums, home, surf club), I'm fine. Outside of my comfort zone, I'm very very quiet. At least I'm growing out of it a little, I used to barely talk. (edited by Tarale on 08-01-05 06:26 AM) |

I have that comfort zone thingy too. It's at home, and work (and whereever I'm drunk.  ). Well, it used to be at work, but now the people I liked to talk to have all left. | Yes, I can get pretty shy. I think I was worse as a kid, but I went to a small elementary school, so I got to know everybody. Being at school is fine, and having to speak to other students I don't know doesn't bother me anymore, but I'm not an outgoing person or anything. Other situations freak me out. I'm definitely shy around people older than me. I hate being around large groups of people I don't know, unless I have friends around to distract myself with. Otherwise I'm very nervous. Lots of people say I speak too softly. I guess that's related, even though half the time I'm not nervous and thought I'm speaking like a normal person. I hate that. |

| I'm not exactly "shy", but just a quiet person. For example, in classes at school I hardly speak up, or talk out loud unless I have to. I don't know why, it's just like I don't care to. But once I get to know somebody, I'm not quiet at all. I do get really nervous around new settings, like I was when I first got my job. I looked up to some of the people like my Assistant Manager, and stuff, but now that I've been working there for 2 months and have gotten to know everyone better, they're just like regular friends to me (for the most part). As for girls, they never want to talk to me. =\ |

| I don't speak unless I need to ask a question, someone asks me a question, or I have something to say that I feel person I'm talking to will care about. Otherwise, i'm as quiet as a mouse... so, i guess i'm not alone in feeling that i never have anything good to say? |

| But what makes you shy? There's usually a reason why people are shy, unless you're just.. born with it? I think for me, I'm self conscious of my looks and my voice. Though none of you will ever hear it. |

| I'm not very shy. I mean I get shy sometimes, like most people do, but I don't have any problem being with people I don't know or talking to lots of people or stuff like that. I get very shy when people say good stuff about me though, but I dunno if that counts. |
