Ah, do you smell that? It's the smell of JDavis unveiling a new post layout! This time, one based on the computer systems of one Washu Hakubi from the anime Tenchi Muyo! Now, I'll be the first to point out that this one does not appear as it is intended to in Internet Explorer. But, too bad. If it comes down to it looking perfect in IE or looking perfect in Firefox... Well, I use Firefox, so guess which one I'm going to go with? Anyway, now let's try a blockquote... Listen, through his experiments, Heisenberg concluded that the accurate measurements of one of two related observable quantities, such as position and momentum, produces uncertainties in the measurements of the other. He figured that the product of the uncertainties of position and the uncertainties of momentum are equal to or greater than h over 2 pi, where h equals Plank's constant. It means that observations in quantum mechanics always lead to uncertainty. You understand this, don't you? And... how 'bout a link? Well, I think that about covers everything.... Oh, wait! No it doesn't! I almost forgot the most gimmicky part! The look of the layout, like the lighting inside Washu's lab, changes depending on the time of day. Specifically, there are four styles: One for the morning, one for mid-day, one for the evening, and one for night. Enjoy. Or don't, if you're using IE. Sorry. |

What's with the thing on the bottom, after the box your post is in? It seems like a waste of space. Not that I've ever seen Tenchi Muyo, maybe it's fitting. Otherwise, viewing with Firefox, it's pretty nifty. I'll have to check it out during other times of the day to see how it changes. |

Looks great. And I looked at it in IE, and looked great too (expect that the pictures didn't look as smooth, no anti-alias or something ) |

Originally posted by Yoshi DudeIt's the 'keyboard' part. You see, Washu's computer interface is made up of two black semi-transparent rectangles angled like an open laptop which float in the air. I use IE and it looks pretty good. I agree with YD on that blackish transparent box at the bottom tho. At least thats what I see. Also, how do spoilers look? They work normally? And what about edits? |

Well, if you were using Firefox, you'd see that "blackish transparent" is also what the text box is supposed to look like. And I assume spoilers look as they normally do. Spoiler: Testing. Yep, sure enough. Edit: And testing an edit.... I'm thinking about resizing all the images down so the whole thing won't have to take up so much room should have though of it ahead of time, admitedly... (edited by JDavis on 07-31-05 04:51 PM) |

The designs yea sure, but it covers more the my screen on 1024x768. So, because of the size ive had to block this layout. When the majority of your layouts I have liked muchly. But this one, well its big.

I remember Tenchi . Interesting little show, with a very crazy scientist Downsizing the little bars and guages may be a good idea. It just seems really.... bulky right now |

It's a little big because of the.. "keyboard" at the bottom, but overall very nice. Great job.

Shrunked. Now I've got to clean up some of the images Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot, a big thanks goes out to Kasumi-Astra for letting me see her time-sensitive coding stuff, so I wouldn't have to figure out how to do it myself (edited by JDavis on 07-31-05 05:25 PM) |

Ah, that looks much nicer space-wise. What happens if you type 3 full lines in a row? Do they just go around the bars at the top or what.. quotes go below it I've seen. Those are oddly positioned. Or something. |

I had to insert a few line breaks before the quote myself so it wouldn't screw up Otherwise the blockquote box goes behind the bars image and it just looks all sorts of odd. But, yeah, text wraps around the bars just fine. I'm trying to keep this all together so you can see. *previews* Yeah, as you can see, it wraps around it. It is odd, though... I'm considering making the text start below where the bars are.

Nice programming, but it overrules the ART. I don't understand the shapes, let alone, the grey grit on the outside. You sir, are fail! j/k At least the colours aren't seizurific.

Well, as you might could tell reading the thread, I had to resize everything down. The slight gray matting was a lot less noticable on the larger versions. Either way, it's about the best I can do without pixel-tracing the things, and I don't have time for that. The shapes aren't really meant to have any particular meaning as far as my layout goes, they're just a few of the designs that have appeared on Washu's screen from time to time. While the bars and the circular bars are probably meant as measurements of some kind, I don't honestly claim to understand the triangle-circle combo at all. And it should now be in evening mode. Orangey. |

Wait. Your layout changes color according to the time of day! Also, I would start your text below the bars and maby add your name (or nothing) on the same lines as the bars are located on. Just a thought. Looks better now that it's small. No more screen scrolling which is great. |

Yum... peachy orange *Waits for nighttime, and dawn* Fun, though, the layout still seems a bit... bulky, or busy . I cant put my finger on it... |
