So, firefox is making me mad, sometimes new hot keys come up, earlier pressing the ' key would make the search command come up. I used to be able to do control + i and it'd work fine, make the italics come up on this, now it pops up my favorite. So, short question, how do I disable hot keys for firefox? Edit, well, not ALL of them, just you know, ones that'll make ' bring up a search window or something. (edited by Dracoon on 07-28-05 10:54 PM) |

Backup your bookmarks.html from your Firefox Profile Folder, uninstall Firefox, delete that profile folder afterhand - and do a reinstall of Firefox. Then simply copy you old bookmarks.html back into the profile folder to replace the default one. |

Not that I know of, but Surlent's idea sounds right. Your profile folder seems to be corrupt. (The one big flaw of Firefox; this isn't an uncommon problem. ) | |||

I misjudged the thread title, I thought your hotkeys went mad But a very useful extension for that is KeyConfig: http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=254 I had to save the .xpi do disk (Firefox 1.0.4 didn't let me download and install it by left-clicking, though I allowed the page to install software) and to drag it manually into the open "Extensions" window, but despite its age it works well with my Firefox 1.0.4 version. The extension can be reached by using the "Extras" or "Tools" in Firefox' main menu; it is located below the "DOM Inspector" entry - and cannot be reached using the extensions windows. I disabled the Full Screen mode in it, restarted Firefox - and I couldn't reach it anymore - and it could be reverted, of course. So simply install that extension (which also allows you to remap them to your custom keys) and disable the hotkeys which cause trouble to you - or remap them. |
