K900 - Oh I've been knwon to dabble a little with Welsh once in a while As for French well it's what I learned at school, but I've not had to use it, so I get the genders mixed up all thje time, for instance are Bananas male or female?

What I don't get is how they decide if an inanimate object is male or female.

In Welsh, it's really pretty simple, Either a) Whichever sounds better and can be pronounced better (The entire language is designed to be spoken out loud, being a land of poets, that's pretty much essential - There is no such thing as a Welsh Tongue Twister). or b) If girls are sitting at it, a table is female (no, really... that's true.) |

Nah, it's instinctive The mutations of the words make complete and utter sense (and bear in mind they're designed to be easy to pronounce and trip off the tongue better). It just has the effect of when we talk, it sounds like we're almost singing, because rhythmically it all gels together. God I love my native language |
